The comic? Yes I did. I remember Quartermaine was in love with the leader of the group, Mina (I forgot her last name). And the Inivisible man was a psychopath when it comes to....

Murry. Mina Murry. It was one of the (many) things they changed in the film that they shouldn't.
The Martians were killed when the British army fired a weaponised virus into the south of London where the tripods were amassing.

I've never seen the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and I didn't know there were Martians in it.

Not 'seen'. The film was a let down for me. Read. The second graphic novel is about the martian invasion.

Just as a brief update... A pastiche of The War of the Worlds I've written has just been posted up on another site. It combines elements of the original novel with the 1938 radio version by Orson Welles, as well as a few bits of Sherlock Holmes. The story is entitled Solar Pons's War of the Worlds, and can be read in the December 2008 edition of the Solar Pons Gazette here: www.solarpons.com/Annual_2008_1.pdfI must warn you, though, that - as it's a pdf file, you'll need Adobe Acrobat to run it.

isn't there a new animated War of the Worlds going to be launched? Yes, I heard that. It's meant to be a CGI film set to Jeff Wayne's musical adaptation. They said it would be released in 2007, but we're still waiting for it to come out.

That's not the one I was thinking of... Looks pretty cool, but too much like Steamboy meets Scarlet Traces for me... ISN'T THERE ANY F***ING FILM THAT IS A FAITHFUL ADAPTATION OF THE BOOK?!
