Even though he had a good head start, the blast is still enough to hurl McKenzie forward a good ways, sending the frightened hare tumbling head-over-heels, landing upright in a sitting position, alive and just a little shaken. After taking a moment to recover, he stands and looks back at the destruction.

* Meanwhile, back with Shar and the rest of the mammal survivors, the communicator that Wild gave to Shar beeps to alert of an incoming transmission *
"Shar it's Wild [crackle] -an't say to much the to-[buzz]-monitoring this frequency. Rand- [hiss] I don't know how much longer he's going to stay alive but I'm gonna try and help him. There's a survivor we found [crackle]- Dawson McKenzie [hiss] he [hiss] coming to your location, I promised you'd help him. At the moment I'm i- [buzz] -m stuck... I can't get back to Randal from the way I came in", He laughs nervously, "I don't even know if this Frelli- [hiss] signal can penetrate the ceiling... if I don't see you again [buzz] -oodluck, take care and look after the others! [click]"
The transmission ends.

Sharr looks at the comm bracelet in alarm.
"Oh Wild, what have you gotten yourself into now. Do you want me to see if I can help, or should I stay with the refugees?"

Suddenly McKenzie pops into view over a pile of rubble near the rest of the group and, fearing accidentally getting some friendly fire for his troubles, waves his arms visibly in the air over his head. "Uh, h--hello?"

* Wild's communicator hisses as Sharr attempts to contact him but all that gets through is "...-ild... gotten yourse-... -o... help... -fugees..." *
"Shar this is Wild are you okay? Can you read me over?", he asks urgently then to himself, "Fan-frelling-tastic...".
Wild struggles to his feet and wipes blood from his brow. Looking back up toward the mammalhole he jumped down he sees that debris has destroyed and sealed that exit. With his excellent night vision he can make out the tunnel he is in despite the low light level. Not wanting to take too long and leave Randal to either die or be captured he heads off down a random passageway, clutching his ribcage and leaning on his buckled rifle.

Some of the refugees raise weapons when McKenzie comes into view. Sharr waves at them to stand down.
"Are you McKenzie? Wild said that you would be coming. What has happened to him?"

"H--Hey, don't shoot!" McKenzie says as he comes over, nodding in response to Sharr's question. "Yes, I--I'm Dawson McKenzie. W--Wild sent me on ahead. The other hare with him was shot by a toad sniper, and I fear that Wild may also have been killed by an explosion that I barely got away from myself."

Sharr points to a group of armed rabbits.
"Come with me. We are going to rescue Wild. Dawson, I need you to show me where you last saw Wild. Preferably without exposing us to the sniper."

* As Wild travels further down the tunnel the light begins to intensify and he begins to let himself believe that he is nearing an exit. However his hopes are shattered when he discovers a high and extremely strong grating in the ceiling. Cursing to himself he walks on little further and then stops abruptly *
"Oh for frells sake", he groans staring at the corpses slumped in front of him. Moving slightly forward in morbid curiosity he sees that the corpses are both Toad and Mammal. One Toad in the group appears to be armed with an incinerating weapon which, to Wild, accounted for the charred mammals... but not the distinguisable bite and claw marks on some of the bodies. Looking at the exposed, gnawed bone and throatless necks his mind took him back to reports of a vicious creature the toads had unleashed on the Baboon homeworld. Shuddering at the recollection and realisation of his next move he unstraps the gore covered incinerator from the Toad and takes a maser weapon from another. The weight of the weapons is agony to his tired and damaged frame but his fear and adrenaline force his body into overdrive. Shakily he raises the flame thrower and steps into the darkness...

"O--Okay," sighed McKenzie. He did not want to go back the way he came, but he was overcome by a sudden feeling of guilt for running off and leaving Wild, despite the fact Wild told him to go. This was due to the fact he hadn't told them everything about what occurred at his office, and with his missing wife, Patricia. Shifting uneasily and mustering what courage he could, McKenzie nodded and motioned for Sharr and the other rabbits to follow him, then started back towards where he'd last seen Wild.

* Wild has followed the passage for a few minutes, with each step his fear decreasing slightly and being replaced with an acceptance of his impending demise. He found some assurance in the sight of more mutilated corpses... there must be an entrance nearby. However this hope is destroyed when a noise penetrates the eerie tranquility... *
"GGGGRRRRRRRRR [crack] GRRHAL [slurp] [splat]".
Wild freezes at the sound, he doesn't know what or where it's coming from but is imagination his making up for that already. He backs up against the wall and swings the incinerator left to right in front of him, all the while trying to pinpoint the disturbing noise.
"Just when I started to feel alive", he moans under his breath. He takes out his last grenade, pulls the pin but holds the primer down against his palm... the theory being that if he dies, his grip will fail and the grenade will detonate. He painfully raises the incinerator with the other hand, resting the barrel on his grenade arm, and aims down the tunnel... continuing his journey...

A little ways out in front of to the side of the refugees is a flash of light. Fang is standing there adn drops to his hands and knees as the tingle feeling keeps coursing throughhis body.
"Freelll!" He gasps in mild pain. "I feel like a tv dinner! Fried and frozen at teh same time!"
HE stays there gasping, not noticing the refugees off to the side.

McKenzie yelped and jumped backwards in surprise as Fang appeared, the twitchy hare salesman reflexively firing off a shot from his maser pistol. His aim was so wild that he missed Fang by several feet, the blast scorching the ground a few feet away from him. McKenzie calmed down after seeing that Fang was, in fact, a fellow hare, but was still pretty weirded out by the whole appearing-out-of-nowhere thing.

Fang slowly lifts his head as teh tingling finally stops and looks at the scorch mark a few feet away. He slowly turns his head and looks at the group.
"Am I on Warren?" He asks as he slowly rises up and sits down. "My name is Fan... Santino Aerdus. Who are you?"
He studies the group carefully.
