No, but an RPG doesn't need to be all action. A merchantman allows greater scope for different types of adventures.

I second that... My WoD group were still raring to go after an entire combat free evening. Little do they know what's coming next week...
But back to the point, as Brian said it really depends if we want to play an action packed adventure or if we want to do some thinking. Of course we could always be pirates which should allow for nearly as much variety as a merchant ship... Bring on the crushed swamp grass in swamp water!

I know, just stating my own view on what I'd like to play.
In all honesty, pretty much anything will do for me. I'm flexible on that end.

Suggestion time over. Now you need to vote.
1: What sort of crew do you want to play? One choice each please.
2: A historical setting has been voted down, but we still need to determine when the game will be set. The television series starts in 3223 (Aniverse timeline). We could set it a) during the first Toad War (3215) b) at the start of the TV series c) at the end of the TV series (3224) or at any point during the web series.

1. Mercenary Group on Frigate, maybe even stolen.
2. as for when, I kinda like somewhere in the middle of the war

Do you mean in between offensives, such as just before the start of the television series?

no, more as in somewhere between 3215 to 3224, time of setting wise.
For group afiliation, well, I was thinking more along the lines of being an enemy to the toads as well as the UAC, or at least wanted by both sides.

How about that, Drake voted pretty much the same way I was going to.

Do you mean non-aligned, or actively hostile to both parties? Do you mean merchants or mercenaries?

Three votes for non-aligned freebooters. We need one more vote to progress onwards.

If anyone wants to participate but doesn't care about a particular vote, just say 'pass' or 'abstain'.

Mmm... I take it this stalled in the water. Shame, I'd love to RP with a little more control over it. Not that nothings wrong with free-form, just some rules to help guide the play along would be great...

I'd still like to do it. But we really need four people.
