I Belong in Space | Super Bucky Box
Beginning of Thread:
So I have been letting my son play with my action figures and he thinks they are the best thing ever. An added perk to letting him play with them is that he has also been watching the episodes. I was pretty sure that was the best thing ever until I got a fatal question, "Dad is there a Bucky O'Hare computer game." Well short of downloading illegal roms or stealing the arcade cabinet from the local movie theater (I have tried buying that machine off of the owner for years but even when I was her head manager the answer was no) there isn't one...is there? So I told him no. He then replied, "But you could make one for me right?"
So may I present to the community my son inspired fan game (It is nowhere near done but I thought this was a good unveiling point and a good point to get pointers).
I call it "I Belong in S.P.A.C.E." here are some mock ups:
To find an executable go to this online folder: Executable Folder
Release Notes
V0.1
The original mock up
-Contains a 30 second looping game
-No Sound (Other than background music)
-No Health Bars
-No enemy fire
-Shield doesn't rotate all the way around
Before playing you may want to turn you sound down. This may not be the final theme music I go with...
V0.1.5
-Shield now rotates all of the way around
-Enemies shoot
-Health bar mock up available
-Added one move wave of enemies
-30 Second looping is now gone once you play through once it is all over (roughly 45 seconds)
-Not being able to loop is a bit of a bug... I am working on it...
V0.1.9
-Added Sounds!
-Added playlist of background music
-Added Main Menu (settings button doesn't work)
-Game starts in full screen rather than in windowed mode
-Added song toggle buttons on Main Menu and during game play (Just in case you find the songs annoying)
-The playlist does not automatically start the next song... this will be rectified.
V0.2
-Brought back the Game Loop!
-Added primitive scoring
-Added damage effects (now when you get hit not only do your shields shake but the less life you have the more intense the screen flashes red!)
-Added a GodMode button. Not sure if this will stay but it is on by default now. It is in the lower right corner. Your shields can get damaged with god mode on but your ship will not. Turn god mode off to see the screen flash red when your life is going down.
-Turned up the volume on enemy ships exploding.
V0.2.5
-Dialog
- If you want to come up with some dialog of your own that I can add in add it to the end of this forum
- Dialog occurs when: shields are at 50%, 1 out of 5 times you get hit, 1 out of 10 times you hit something, and 50% Health(not implemented yet).
-Booster Packs
- 50% chance to add 20 to your shields (Max of 100 at one time)
- 30% chance to add 20 to your health (Max of 100 at one time)
- 15% chance to upgrade your weapons: Level 2 is double lasers and Level 3 is a heat seeking missile and double lasers. I hope to have more upgrades later
- 5% for an extra life (Max of 8 at one time).
- Boosters appear 20% of the time when a large asteroid is destroyed or 2% of the time a ship is destroyed. (Note you will not receive any boosters for going kamikaze)
-Mothership
- After playing through the loop 33% of the time the Mothership will show up. It will take 50 hits from the regular lasers and around 17 missiles
- Double Bubbles continuously circle the Mothership
- Should you kamikaze the Mothership you will do 50 damage for each of your lives... If the Mothership has more life left than your stored lives you will receive a Game Over. -That is partly a bug I haven't fixed yet.
- Cool glowing ball of death. The Mothership shoots a glowing ball of death every 3 seconds. It does 40 damage, meaning you can get hit (at full and health and shields) 5 times.
-Game Over Screen
- Thats right you can now get game over
-GodMode
- There are now two different versions of the game one with GodMode default on and one without.
Any comments would be great! I am not planning on making a profit off of this game it is just a fan game.
