Berns feels slightly guilty.
"It probably doesn't matter, sir. We wouldn't want to stop sedating him."

"Well, tell me something, Berns," Wartmon said, "what's worse? The Kaptain stuck like this forever, perpetually sedated and in this hideous mammalian form, or the slight risk that if we turn off the sedative flow he might awaken and break loose? We have precautions against the latter."

"I don't know sir. It's your area of expertise. But I do know that the Kaptain would hate the idea of attacking other Toads."

While all this was happening, Kalsijj had returned from the Wartbridge with the first preliminary results, and was walking around, looking for Innes.

"All right, then it's decided," said the Professor, then turned to Dr. Croaker. "Turn off the IV flow, Doctor."
Croaker gulped and nodded, then went over and adjusted the flow of the sedative being fed into Staan's arm via an IV tube, until it stopped completely.
"There," Wartmon said. "Now we'll see if you're right, Berns."

Raille came to a sudden halt as he almost walked into Kalsijj.
"Terribly sorry sir, but have you seen Lieutenant Innes?"
Berns could feel himself getting more nervous. Ridiculous, he knew. Even in his altered state the Kaptain would be out for a while yet. He was almost certain.

Eventually, Kalsijj found Innes' door, but hearing her sleeping, he decided to call back later, but then he noticed Raille behind him.
"She's in there, sleeping," Kalsijj answered. "I'm only here because the first results have come through on our preliminary experiments."
Down in the Secondary Control Room, things were taking shape. The pungent smell had gone thanks to a few dozen air-freshners, and the technicians were beginning to install more updated equipment.
The Corporal overlooked everything, naturally, but there was no need to report to Innes until everything was complete.

"Well, now that I've cut the sedative flow, either the antidote will start working or else he'll awaken and break free. Who knows? But not knowing is half the fun!" Wartmon giggled.

"Asleep? Oh. Um... sir, did her behaviour seem..."
Raille made a circling motion with his right hand.
".. odd to you, in any way?"
Berns gripped his rifle a little more tightly. Not knowing is half the fun? He had forgotten what Toad Science were like.

"Sergeant, I've known a lot of officers in my time who are a bit more..." Kalsijj repeated Railles' circular motion. "...as she is."

Images of the various officers that Raille has served under flash through his mind.
"Ah. Yes, I suppose you would have done. I ask because it may be that a former officer from this facility put a mind-altering substance in something she consumed. I don't know how long it should take to manifest, or even how great an effect it should have, but I am still concerned."
Staans body arched then began to shrivel.

Wartmon's eyes widened even moreso than usual, and the scientist began to approach the examinationt able to which Staan was strapped, watching intently.

It was almost as if a werewolf shaped balloon had been punctured. Bone shortened and returned to normal size faster than muscle, which in turn changed faster than skin. The hair remained, but fell to the ground as it was expelled from his amphibian skin. After a moment all that could be seen was a humaniod heap of hair.

Wartmon blinked. Reaching over he plucked a tuft of hair from the pile between thumb and forefinger, examining it. "Hmm," he said. "Either the unfortunate kaptain has somehow transformed into nothing but a giant hairball, or the formula actually worked."

"Well, when it comes to Neurology, Qwainn would be the expert there. I only know hints, but my line of work often revolves around the body as a whole, not just a specific part,"
Kalsijj paused for a moment. "And what happened to this...former officer?"
