As Iko dug, by sheer chance, a small insect drew Iko's attention to a perfect crystal of Dalekenium on the surface, partially covered with dirt.

Adder slowly glided his double-bubble down and settled himself to sleep in the seat. Adder had scheduled his own death for 12 O' Clock midnight. Luckily, he had enough oxygen to last him until the next day, so he simply went to sleep as the craft lay perfectly still on the dead planet.

The shipboard communicator in Adder's Double Bubble came to life with the sound of Innes's voice.
"Adder, what are you playing at?"

Adder grabbed the microphone, still a bit angry.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" he snapped crossly. "There's an envelope telling you everything you need to know in the Carpathian. Because of your threat to arrest me, I'm as good as dead thanks to you. Just read the letter and you'll find out what I mean."
He pulled the microphone out and smashed the reciever, as well as the backup audio system before nodding back to sleep.

Lieutenant Innes brought eight Double Bubbles with her to Toxus One. Since being called upon to assist against the Screaming Mimi they have been on patrol. The first four are mark 5s, armed with twin linked plasma cannons and a grappler on each wing. The second four are mark 4s with the more conventional quad plasma cannons on each wing tip. Receiving Innes's instruction to recover Adder they veer off and head for Toxus Two.

The radar suddenly blipped and Adder woke with a start, with several double-bubbles coming after him.
Flying away would be no good, and firing at KOMPLEXs' troops would just worsen his situation. So, picking up his space helmet, he discarded the double-bubble and hopped along the low-gravity surface into a network of caves running underground.
Adder had a good mind to just shoot down one of the stalactites over his head and get it over with, but wanted to make perfectly sure that no Stormtoads arrived to try and avert the matter, so he just continued to run down the tunnels and twist his way through caverns, until he found refuge in a small slit hidden in the shadows.
Squeezing into the gap, Adder just held his breath and waited to see what would happen.

"Lieutenant Innes to Squadron Leader Sijinco. Ensign Adder may be behaving in an unpredictable fashion. Approach with care."
Sijinco turned to her gunner, mystified.
"Any idea what's going on with the officers?"
"None. I've found the Ensign, by the way. He left is corvette and headed into the caves. I'm tracking his suit."
"Squadron Leader to all ships. Target is to be captured alive. Track his space suit and await further orders."

Adder then realized that he was an amphibian, and ran towards a river nearby.
He took a deep breath before removing the spacesuit and jumped into the river.
With his spacesuit leading a false trail, he swam in the opposite direction of the water-flow, and towards another cave, where he took shelter in a small bay, and waited to see what would happen.

The squadron glided to a halt at the mouth to the cave in which Adder had hidden. Sijinco looked around at the barren landscape.
"Dismal looking place."
"It's the gamma. We're much closer to this systems star here."
"Will the Ensign be alright in just his suit? More to the point, will we?"
"Should be. Don't try sunbathing or anything."
Sijinco opened her bubble.
"Gibson, Marrik, Conrad, you're with me. Everyone else, cover our backs and keep tracking out errant officer."

After staying in the bay for sometime, Adder found himself in a subterrainean jungle, filled with several forms of bizarre and weird forms of plant life.
"Reminds me of Herbos." Adder muttered, and grabbed a tree to brush away his footprints as he walked deeper into the planet.

Sijinco picked up Adder's discarded uniform, the lights from her suit playing over his name tag. Conrad looked at the water.
"I don't suppose we could just say that he drowned, could we?"
"Not without a body. Marrik, any air in that water or is this strictly corpse recovery?"
"Some. He could still be alive."
"Urk. Fine. Follow me."

Adder felt tired, he'd been walking for sometime and his arms ached from covering up his tracks.
Despite this, he hadn't travelled as far as he had hoped, so instead he took shelter at the top of a nearby rock formation to rest.

Sijinco pulled herself from the water filled tunnel, then turned to help Marrik out. Then she took in the strange jungle around them.
"Atmosphere?"
"Seems to be breathable."
"Rads?"
"Must be getting blocked by minerals in the rocks."
Gibson and Conrad joined them on the bank. For Sijinco, who had lived her whole life on the metal covered Toad Homeworld, the jungle was not an inviting sight.
"This place gives me the creeps. Leave your suits on. Lets get Adder and get out of here."

Adder noticed the troops down below, and as he was about to turn and try and run further into the planet, he found another crack in the rock formation, leading down to a small opening in the river where he couldn't reach before.
Rather than going into the river again, Adder simply hid inside the fracture and waited until the Stormtoads had gone.
