Cryer looked at Ayla strangely, a bit put off by her insistence on pointing out how quiet the Gardens were. What did she have planned, if anything? "So, how often do you come here?" he asked.

A depressed look came over her face and AYla lowered her head.
"Not as much as i would like. I'm always stuck in space with Damien." SHe said quietly and gently bushed a p nearby flower. "It saddens me at times to come here, but it is a nice break from all the running, jumping, and diving that comes with working for damien."

Cryer blinked. "So, you don't like working for this Damien fellow much, I take it? I apologize in advance if I'm wrong..."

"No, I greatly enjoy working with him and owe him my life. It is just that sitting in a pilot seat, you see so many stars and planets, but you miss out seeing planets and such." Ayla said as she gently stroked another plant.

"Loyalty, then, huh?" Cryer said, arching a brow, scowling a bit. "I wouldn't know anything about that. I have few friends. I guess you could say that I, too, don't spend too much time on any one planet."

Ayla looked at Cyer and smiled.
So you know what it is like then to be out there so much." She said smiling. "Its nice to talk with someone who knows what it is like."

"Well, kind of. I just meant I've had a lot of experience with being a loner. I've always kept to myself, really."

Ayla stopped and looked at Cryer.
"You don't have any real frinds?" She asked quietly. "Do you want to be alone?"
SHe looked at Cryer adn waited quietly for his answer.

"Alone?" Cryer said, tilting his head a bit. "I've been alone for pretty much my entire life. Being left alone is sometimes preferential to the way I'm treated around here by most of the people I run into."
He stepped away from Ayla and walked away, stopping before the enormous memorial from before, turning and staring at it. He scowled at it. "No," he said, in response to Ayla's first question about whether or not he had any "real" friends. "To answer your first question, I haven't had any real friends since childhood. Just partners and cronies."

Cryer turned and looked at her, thinking about the question before he answered it. Did he really want to be alone? He couldn't remember the last time someone other than a slimebucket like Edmund Rusk had ever wanted to enjoy the pleasure of his company, and this Ayla seemed genuinely interested in talking to him. But Cryer was so worried about accidentally doing or saying something that would give him away as a turncoat he wasn't entirely sure he wanted her around, especially since she only appeared interested in him based on the outright lies he'd told about his military career.
"I, well, I--I don't know," he finally managed to say. And for the first time in a long time, he was actually telling the truth.

Ayla looked at her feet for a few moments. The chocolate had worn off, but she actually like talking with this Cyer fellow He seemed so nervous, but full of so much knowledge. IT gave him an almost childlike innocence. IF he wanted to be alone, then she would understand.
"If you do want me to leave, you just ahve to say so." She said quietly after hearing his reply.

Standing before the memorial where he and Rusk had been roughed up by that veteran for spitting on it made him remember the failed assassination attempt on Fritz Warner, Rusk's death, and Cryer's subsequent humiliating capture at the hands of Bucky O'Hare and the talk he and Fritz had had in his jail cell prior to his convenient escape. Cryer suddenly felt a burning need. A need to confess.
This was ridiculous. He'd been around Ayla for less than twenty-four hours and he was already tempted to spill his guts to her. He was a terrible assassin and an even worse spy. Worse because of the guilt he felt at what he'd done. Did he tell her to leave and try to hold out until Saul came and got him, or did he break down and admit everything to a sympathetic ear? He decided to test the waters a little.
"No, you can stay," he said. "It's not you, believe me, it's me. This past week has been an emotional rollercoaster for me. I've done some things I'm not entirely... proud of, and it's eating away at me. I honestly don't know if I want to be alone or if I want to have company, because both scenarios are simultaneously appealing and frustrating."

Ayla walked up behind Cryer, quietly, and put her arms around his waist. She drew him into a gentle hug.
"IF you need to talk, I will listen to you." SHe whispered in his ear.

The thin hare's eyes widened as Ayla's arms wrapped around his narrow waist. He broke into a sweat and grinned nervously. "Uh, well, I... I do have a few things I'd like to get off my chest, as it so happens. I'm just unsure that I can safely tell anybody."
