* Fritz glances at the gluttonous Groundhog momentarily before fixing his attention on the wiry Hare *
"I hope you didn't harm anyone to get those uniforms", says Fritz casually, "But nevermind for now, let's get down to brass tacks. What do you want?".

"What makes you think these uniforms aren't ours?" Cryer asked, equally casual as he crossed his arms.

"Drop the charade. A security guard would have no need for this covert rendezvous... and he is certainly no guard", Fritz gestures to Rusk as he gorges himself, "You said you had information...".

"Good call," Cryer said, and frowned at Rusk, who looked up and, noticing his friend's angry stare swallowed what he had in his mouth and then nodded wordlessly, heading for the door. To almost anyone it would appear as though the groundhog were leaving to give Cryer and Fritz a chance to talk alone.
Turning back to Fritz, Cryer said, "Don't worry about the original owners of these uniforms. They're still alive, just trussed up and gagged somewhere in the bushes out there. Anyways, I do have some valuabe information, namely that I know the identity of the ones who recently betrayed the UAC and handed Warren over the toads... not to mention the fact that you yourself are currently in danger, Mr. Chairman, as these same traitors have been sent here to Genus to assassinate you..."
Cryer's smugness vanished, and, suddenly shaking visibly, he uncrossed his arms and drew his sidearm from the holster on his belt, pointing it at Fritz. "...and you're looking at him."

* Fritz barely even acknowledges the gun *
"Really? Well I suppose that information was worth my time", says Fritz so lightheartedly it's eerie, "And how do these traitors expect to escape once they've made the hit?".
Fritz slowly sidles over to the dessert trolley.
"I can see what tempted your friend so much! Would you like a slice of cake?", he says to Cryer... not even trying to be subtle in his mocking.

Cryer's face twisted into a scowl of confusion and anger at Fritz's words. He keeps the maser trained on Fritz as the chairman walks over to the dessert cart. "They-- We have a ship standing by at our disposal," he lied. He wasn't sure they could even get to the hangar, much less actually escape in the Double Bubble.
"Aw, just shut up and blast 'im," Rusk moaned from across the room, busy as he was barring the doors with a chair before pulling his own maser and walking back over. Unlike Cryer, he looked eager to kill Fritz, grinning widely.
"Shut up," Cryer hissed at his partner before turning back to Fritz, his finger on the trigger. "I...," he began, swallowing, beginning to sweat, "I hate to do this, Mr. Chairman. I really do. But I have to..."

* Fritz half-turns to look at Cryer *
"You've got do what you have to do...", Fritz says sympathetically moving ever so slightly closer to the dessert trolley, "But you don't have to do this. You can still change your mind... I don't know what sort of deal you've made but I can tell you sincerely don't want to go through with this".
Fritz is concentrating solely on Cryer, maintaining eye contact with him.
"Think very carefully about your next move", advises Fritz, "If you attack me you can never go back and change your mind. I can provide you with protection... you could even serve us as a double agent! Don't let that guy [nods in Rusks direction] make up your mind for you".

Cryer's purple eyes were freakishly wide as the Chairman's words hit close to home. "Shut up," he said, snarling, "I've had a bellyful of you people's hypocritical rhetoric." But still he did not pull the trigger.
His absolute loathing for most of what the UAC stood for aside, here was his chance to get out of this alive. He had no illusions that if he did kill Fritz, he and Rusk would never get away. But his mind was clouded by his desire for revenge, and what the toads would do to him if he failed.

"I'm not being dishonest with you... If you attack me you'll be hunted across the aniverse", says Fritz, "The Toads will definately execute you once you're surplus to requirement. You can't win that way, but we can resolve all this. In return for your cooperation we could forget all this... I can even grant you immunity for your treason against Warren".

Cryer still did not lower his weapon. Rusk, meanwhile, was utterly exasperated. The more Fritz talked, the more the groundhog became annoyed. Stepping up behind Fritz, Rusk cuffed the Chairman violently across the back of the neck with the butt of his maser pistol, knocking him towards the dessert cart. Cryer stepped back in response to this, blinking. "Let's just kill 'im and get outta here, Cryer," Rusk snarled.

* Fritz wasn't expecting the blow and he fell, catching himself on the dessert table. His vision faded temporarily and the pain was intense *
"Cryer you don't have to be a part of this!", groans Fritz, "Don't follow this idiot!".
The Chairman subtly grips the edge of a serving platter from the table he is propped against.
"This guy is evil, Cryer! I know you're a victim of circumstance... to some degree", says Fritz with feigned weakness in his voice, "Your time in slavery must have been horrific... it wasn't your fault that they broke you... you don't have to let that haunt you forever. Put the gun down...".

"Horrific doesn't even begin to describe it. Rusk, I can't..." Cryer said, slowly lowering his maser, shaking. "I can't go through with this... you do it..."
"Fine!" Rusk said, aiming his maser at the back of Fritz's head and preparing to fire, grinning maniacally, "I'll gladly fry this goodie-goodie's brains. Gotta do everything myself around here!"
Cryer, unable to watch, turned away and leant on the nearby banquet table for support. He lacked even the courage to commit murder, but, due to his fear of his toad employers he was going to let Rusk do it.

* Fritz feels the barrel dig into the wound on his head and winces *
"Which is why all the repurcussions for your treason will fall on you, Rusk", says the Chairman, "I'm placing you under arrest for the kidnapping and murder of Mrs. Marsupial, three counts of assault and treason... other charges will be discussed at your trial...".
Warner grips the metal serving tray with both hands now and tenses.

"Why you arrogant son of a...," Rusk growled, and hit Fritz with the barrel of the maser this time, foolishly drawing out the Chairman's torture rather than just shooting him and getting it over with.
But he paused as Fritz continued to speak, listing off all the charges, and suddenly began to sweat. "Hey now, see here, cooperating with the toads was all his idea!" Rusk stammered, pointing at Cryer even though Fritz was facing away from both of them.
Cryer glared at his partner, "Yeah, but you kidnapped Mrs. Marsupial, and as I recall you even asked Sludge if you could kill her, before the Stormtoads did it for you! Don't you dare sell me out, Rusk! W-we're in this together!"
"Oh-ho," snorted Rusk, "me a sellout? That's high talk coming from the hare who handed his own planet to the frelling toads!"
