Kvetch's head jerks around at the snap sound. That arm was getting annoying.
"All over, really. The Major thinks I'm useful, so I go wherevah he goes. I was stationed on Warren for a bit a while back."
The generator is on the other side of the compound. Kvetch walks towards it.

Ximenex raised an eyebrow when Kvetch mentioned Warren.
Are you telling me that you stayed on Warren, completely undetected, and with no disguise? Admiral Terminater hissed in thought.

" 'Course, that was when we were occupying it. The Major was set to hunting down resistence fighters, an' ya' can't use conscripts for somethin' like that. Got a nasty scar on me left arm from tha job."

"Well, I'm sure the Major must have commended you for your actions." Ximenex muttered neutrally.

That makes Kvetch pause.
"You've never actually met the major, have you sir?"

"No, and that is another reason why I am here," answered Ximenex.
"I am certain by now you have figured out that I am not your everyday run-of-the-mill officer. I happen to be here on an official inspection for Toad High Command, and I have orders to bring back a report on the general vicinity to determine the Majors' future as commander for this base."

Interestin'.
"I wos unda the impression that this base was tempery sir. Sumfin' abaht gehin' slaves from somewayah the mammals won't notice. 'Onestly, I think the Major would be as glad to be shot a'this place as the rest of us. Admin's not really his strong suit. No one I'd rather follow into a firefight, though."

"Temporary it may be, but I have recieved reports from the Toad Field Marshal that they prove to be excellent labour for the ST, and it was vote that I was to inspect this planet,"
"Between you and me, Corporal, the Toad Field Marshal appears to be going soft on these mammals from what he has said about them."

"Dun't know abawt mammals sir. All I’ve seen since I got here is bludy penguins. I spose if they couldn't work we wouldn't be 'ere gettin' 'em."
They reach the entrance to the generator room.

"Yes," agreed Ximenex. "But, since when has a high-ranking Toad officer recruited infidels into his own army?"

Kvetch steps inside the generator room. The generator is two stories tall and sunk into the ground. There are five technicians working on various parts.
"Dunno sir. When?"

"When the first batch of slaves left this hell-hole, that's when!" Admiral Terminater shouted angrily.
"Snyder has it in his head that the praisal of murder within their religion makes them good enough soldiers. Who says they won't start murdering us?"

Kvetch stops moving.
"Hang on sir. Are you sayin' tha' someone's usin' slaves from 'ere as soldiers?"

"You catch on quick don't you?" Ximenex nodded. "I just said, the Toad Field Marshal is so desperate for volunteers in the ST that he's picking out mercenaries from these slaves and putting them into our army!"

Kvetch was actually surprised, though he knew better than to show it. What place did these sword wielding primitives have in the modern Toad army?
"Strikes me as a very bad idea sir. Reason bein', they don't like us Toads very much."
