Alright. I've noticed the lack of activity here and have finally decided to try to do something about it. Last time I suggested a GMed thread I put everything to the vote and, not too surprisingly, interest fell off somewhere around vote five. This time I'm going to suggest a much more focused scenario. If three or more people like it I'll run it. If at least three people but don't like that particular idea I'll think of something else. If no one responds...
Please someone respond...
The set up
The campaign is set about ten years before the start of the cartoon series. Initial hostilities between the UAC and the Toad Empire ended three years ago and an uneasy peace has settled on the Aniverse. Though much smaller than the UAC the Toads were able to take and hold five worlds during the war and are concentrating on industrialising them in the image of their homeworld. In the UAC worlds are increasingly looking to their own interests, and rumblings of discontent with the central authority threaten the future of the organisation.
The Clone Wars are one of the most unpleasant periods of Aniverse history. The owners of the BioMod Industries tissue growth facility on Rigel 2 managed to pass off their remarkably low cost rapid delivery cloned tissue as the result of a series of medical breakthroughs. The truth of the matter only came out when the donor clones, aided by the biomechanical cyberspiders, broke out of the vivisection facility and began a violent campaign against civilisation that lasted eight months.
Your characters have a chance to intervene. If you play UAC you might be able nip the conflict in the bud. Not only will this save thousands of lives, but it will also restore unity of purpose to a rapidly fracturing alliance. If you play Toads you can fan the flames of civil strife⦠and perhaps claim the cloning technology for yourself.
The structure
Each player picks one of three types of character, either an engineer, a soldier or and intelligence specialist. Players may choose either the Empire or the UAC. If we assume three players it would probably work best to have one of each specialty all on a single side.
Characters start with only basic skills and equipment appropriate to their type. As the campaign progresses you can improve your characters abilities in any way you choose.
Each mission will begin with a briefing in which the set up and your objectives will be explained to you. Whenever you complete an objective your team gets a point. The more points, the better the outcome for your side and the faster your character gains skills.
Though you will not be forced to attempt the impossible it is possible for your characters to die. Sometimes it will be better to fall back than to attempt to complete the entire mission.
So. Does that sound like something you want to do? Come on people! The Aniverse needs you!
