The Courtbourne Merchantile Security Solutions headquarters looked like most of the office buildings on the outskirts of Ultess' capital city. Modern architecture with large windows set in a landscaped park. Its neighbours are high tech hothouse developments, accountancy firms and legal advisors. It was only when you looked a little closer, at the thickness and texture of the walls and the slight sheen on the glass that indicated energy reflective properties that the casual observer might catch a hint of the company’s nature.
The CMSS is Ultess' main provider of security personnel to the planets star faring merchants. Ultess is rich, with the highest standard of living anywhere in the UAC with the possible exception of Rigel Prime itself. Its main tradable commodities are exactly the sort of low mass high value items that pirate crews like to target. In system security is top notch, but there is no way to guard every system or hyperspace stop-off. This has led naturally to the growth of companies who are tasked with ensuring that cargos get where they are supposed to.
Many former CMSS employees found that the opportunities offered by the Toad War were far more profitable than guarding cargo. As a result, the company needs to recruit new blood... your characters, in point of fact. Post your character outline on this thread if you are interested in participating.

It’s great.
Just remember, your characters are supposed to be fairly inexperienced and that I'm allergic to magic.
While writing your backgrounds you may wish to say something about your characters homeworld and its sociopolitical organisation. Or maybe thats just me?

The well dressed beaver who you assume to be Derrick Weatherby -that was the name the receptionist gave you- pushes aside the paper he had been working on as you enter his well upholstered office. He gets up to shake your hand.

Nice to meet you, i heard you had "vacancy" in this place , my resumé doesn't say much , but i can tell that you need all the help you can get, and since this a nightly shift i think i can manage to do the job well and done. but ill need to fill some papers first , right?

Mr Weatherby returns to his chair, stabs a few buttons on his computer keyboard with a vaguely bemused air and then rifles through his papers.
"We would be looking to start you on planetside security, looking after cargo on stopovers, that sort of thing, but we would be looking to move the right sort of candidate to interplanetary duties before too long."
He appears to find what he was looking for. You recognise your curriculum vitae, and a few other sheets that seem to have your name on them.
"Just a few preliminary questions before we get to the meat of the interview... I'm sorry, I feel a bit silly asking, but is it Mr Arius or just Arius? Never got the hang of other species naming conventions."

"Goodness, thats a bit of a mouthful, isn't it? Well, Weatherby is short for Weathered Stone by Water. My clan back on Tressis traditionally built with stone rather than wood... usually we wouldn't use it as part of our given name. I just found it easier. Ultess is very individual identifier - family identifier."
He points to a line on the paper.
"Says here that you're from Persia 7? Can't say I know anything about the place."

OOC: Sounds a little potent for what I had in mind. Perhaps he intends to return home to avenge his brothers after gaining a little experience?
OOC: You won't meet up just yet, but there is no reason for you to do nothing.
IC: You walk in through the main doorway into the lobby of the Courtbourne Mercantile Security Solutions headquarters. It is a large open room about 15 meters square, decorated with bland corporate art. The floor tiles have the company logo embossed on them. They look recently washed. There is a reception desk in the centre. It is manned by a marmot and two squirrels. You are not currently armed, having reluctantly checked in your guns at the front gate. You are early for your interview.
