Another try at reviving this forum. This thread will deal with the Toad conquest of the planet Lazarus. You will play soldiers of the Toad Imperial Navy under Kaptain Staan. I want to have a far more action orientated thread, something like a cross between the first level of Halo and Team Fotress 2. Same sort of dice rolling combat as the CMSS thread.
Anyone interested?

In order to get to the violence faster I want to use character templates, Team Fortress style. You'll have a choice between Soldier, Stormtoad, Medic, Engineer and Pilot. These will have standardised abilities, at least to start with.

Sorry for the delay. Got a bit addicted to Avatar. Watched two and a half series.
Soldier Equipment: Maser rifle Insignia: Skull and crossed rifles. MO: Fighters, orderly and disciplined. Komplex has now ruled the Toad Homeworld for several decades, controlling education, media and popular culture in a way that a flesh and blood dictator could only dream. Much to the dismay of the rest of the Aniverse this has resulted in a generation of young Toads who are willing fascists, and do not requiring Toad TV to remain so in the way that their parents generation did. Toad Soldiers are skilled, disciplined and dedicated fighters.
Stormtoad Equipment: Maser rifle Insignia: Skull and crossed bones. MO: Fighter, brutal and aggressive All Toads are exposed to subliminal programming to some degree. For the most part it works to increase loyalty, but in some it produces an extremely atavistic response. To protect society form these dangerous psychotics such individuals are spotted early and drafted into the Stormtoad corps. They only get a basic training and few survive their first battle. Those that do learn to focus their destructive impulses on the enemies of the state. Toad officers like to give them enemies to fight, because that way they don't have to worry about the crazy Stormers wondering what they taste like.
Medic Equipment: Maser pistol and medical kit Insignia: Crossed white bars MO: Support, heals injured allies Casualties are the first truth of war, and anyone who wants to keep their soldiers in a fit condition to fight will make sure someone in their force knows how to treat a maser burn. Many a veteran would be six feet under but for the field treatment they received.
Engineer Equipment: Maser pistol, computer interface, engineers tools Insignia: Cogs and crossed spanners MO: Support, repairs and operates machines. Much as the Toad army likes to smash things, it does need some people who know how to put them back together. Combat engineers fix vehicles, man captured enemy support weapons and hack enemy computers for information.
Pilot Equipment: Monobubble (maser cannon/shredder), maser pistol Insignia: Winged cross-hairs MO: Flying fire support The Toad military is organised around its fleet elements. It is Fleet Kaptains who control troop deployments, and airborne infantry who lead assaults. Toud conscripts tend to be lightly armed, with heavy weapons being mounted on vehicles or aircraft. The raw power they control means that pilots tend to regard themselves as a step above the ground pounders.

Double Bubble is the standard toad fighter. It has one gunner and one pilot, and either two quad plasma guns or two twin maser cannons. It has atmosphere and space capacities, hyper drive and shields. It would utterly destroy any starting group of characters. You don't get one.
You get a mono bubble. Think like a Banshee from Halo or a modern helicopter gunship. Its maser cannon can easily destroy hard targets and its shredder (electromagnetic charge firing solid slugs) will rip infantry apart. It flies, and is fast and manoeuvrable. However, it has weak armour and shielding. Its size and energy output means that heavy weapons can lock onto it, and may have to be destroyed by friendly infantry. If it gets downed, your guy can find himself miles from anywhere surrounded by enemies. The pilot is not much use in a fight without his ride.
I'm going to update the class descriptions.
