This is a three-part crossover fic I wrote for a furry rp website a while back. It's set in the Sonic X universe, and features cameos from Bucky O'Hare, Animaniacs and Sonic Underground.
In case anybody wants to know, the character of Mac O'Damia isn't from any of these. Mac is... *gulps nervously* ...my fursona.
Sonic X: Rifts - Part 1
Chapter One
The warm glow of Mobius's sun cast a serene light over the meadow where Cream and Cheese were resting. The little rabbit and her Chao friend had been playing amid the flowers, and were trying to get some of their breath back. Cream's long, flapping ears perked up at the sound of somebody approaching. Raising her head, Cream's hazel eyes picked out the shape of Tails approaching them, his bushy yellow tails wafting in the breeze behind him.
"Cream!" he called out, waving to her as he jogged towards the little rabbit.
"What's wrong, Tails?" Cream asked in her high-pitched voice. Cheese asked something in his own language, but Tails focussed on his rabbit friend.
"Your Mom asked me to find you," Tails replied as he stopped short of the two. "She says that she's making lunch, and she wanted me to come and get you,"
"Oh, my gosh!" Cream gave a little squeak. "I'd forgotten that she was making lunch today!" Cheese gave another unintelligible remark, and before Tails knew what was happening, Cream grabbed his hand and whisked Tails down the field back towards the road, with Cheese hovering at her side. For a six-year-old, she certainly had a lot of strength.
"You'll love my Mom's carrot stew, Tails," Cream called over her shoulder. "She's such a great..." Cream was cut short as they bumped into somebody on the road. As Tails and Cream clambered to their feet, they found themselves looking over a red squirrel, dressed up like a Zulu War soldier. A bulbous red nose took up most of his yellow face, with his bushy, orange tail roughly the same height as his body, which was 3ft in his pith helmet and jackboots.
"Who the heck are you?" the squirrel asked in a middle-pitched English voice. "And where am I? This isn't Tail Avenue, that's for sure!"
"I'm Tails," Tails took up a civil approach. "This is my friend Cream, but who are you? I don't think I've seen you before,"
"Mac O'Damia," Mac held out a paw, which Tails shook. "I'm not sure I've seen you before either. Are we still in Furryville?"
Chapter Two
"I just don't understand it," Silver muttered as they made their way through the city streets. "Why would we suddenly fall into the past without our wishing it?" He turned to look at Blaze, who had been following him silently like a wraith, her arms crossed and her amber-like eyes staring at her companion.
"Obviously, there must be something wrong with the space-time continuum," she replied tersely. "But the only way that it can be disrupted is if somebody is deliberately manipulating it,"
"And the only way that can be done," Silver nodded in agreement. "Is if somebody has a power source great enough to accomplish it," They walked a little way further, where they saw Knuckles the Echidna arguing with a pink echidna that neither Knuckles nor Silver and Blaze recognised.
"Look, kid," Knuckles was grumbling. "It's nothing personal, but I don't go around dating the first girl that falls into my lap, OK?"
"But Knuckles," Julie-Su pressed on. "Why are you acting like this? What about the Soultouch?"
"Not sure what that's got to do with it, but all I'm trying to say is that you've got me mixed up with some other guy, that's all," Silver turned to look at Blaze with a stern glint in his eye.
"I've a funny feeling," he told her. "That this little problem might actually be bigger than we thought,"
Chapter Three
"Look, whoever you are, Sonic is not your brother!" Amy Rose snapped at the magenta-furred hedgehog standing in the middle of the square.
"Why don't you let him speak for yourself?" Sonia hissed, keeping one eye on Sonic, who had been leaning against the tree and watching everything unfold.
"If Sonic had a sister, then he would've told me, wouldn't you, Sonic?" Amy pressed her point, much to Sonic's annoyance. He'd been expecting a quiet day, but now all of his plans for loafing about had fallen to pieces. Reluctantly, he pushed himself away from the tree and looked Sonia squarely in the eye.
"Look, kid," he said slowly and simply. "Are you sure you've got the right Sonic?"
"Fast-mover? Blue fur? Runs like the devil?" Sonia crossed her arms, but Amy was having none of it, and leapt up at Sonia, triggering a cat-fight that Sonic had no choice but to sit out. When Amy was mad, it was best not to get in the way.
Still, Sonic couldn't help but wonder what was going on around here.
Chapter Four
Shadow and Rouge watched events unfold in the city from high atop a large mountain. Rouge was scanning the skyline with a set of binoculars pressed against her emerald eyes, whilst Shadow tended to the victims of the crash. The bulky, orange spaceship had appeared out of nowhere and skidded along the ridge of the mountain before coming to a stop. The crew were all knocked out by the force, and Shadow was tending to them. The green rabbit in the red suit was obviously the leader, and the tall cat with pink fur must have been the co-pilot, judging by the way Shadow had found them inside.
"Looks pretty grim down there," Rouge purred in her sultry voice. "Knuckles looks like he's found himself a new friend... Tails is chatting with Screwy Squirrel... Hello!" a smile spread across her lips from ear to ear.
"What?" Shadow looked up from tending to the ship's robot, thinking that something was amiss.
"Amy and some other girl are having a catfight over Sonic," Rouge gave a chuckle as she set the binoculars down. "If only Valentine's Day was like this,"
"Well, it isn't," huffed Shadow annoyingly. "Now, we have to ask ourselves why so many new faces are turning up all over Mobius at the same time? It's not as though there's a coach trip or anything,"
"I think I know," came a voice. Shadow was almost immediately on the defence, covering Rouge and the casualties from the ship, but he relaxed when he recognised the shape of a tall, brown-haired man in a trailing white coat.
"Shadow," Chris Thorndyke croaked in his deep voice. "Mobius is in deep trouble..."
