Here's a more completec Costume, as well as pics from Comic Con San Diego: Unfortunately, the Bucky they had at the Shocker Toys booth is the one we've already seen, and none of my pics of it came out too well. But it was fun! I spoke with someone from the Neal Adams booth, and got some info that you all will be VERY interested in. This is not internet rumor, this is strait out of the horse's mouth. A Bucky O'Hare CGI Feature is scripted, and is in the pitching process right now. The lady said that it WILL happen. As of right now, it looks like they're going to get celebrities to voice act, rather than the original cast. I'm sad, but I'll live. Anyway, the feature will follow the story of the comic. Just thought you'd all like to hear that! -JJ P.S. The Boots and Belt are in the works. I just wore what I had finished.

Great costume, man! That is great news! Apparently, Larry Hama originally wrote Bucky O'Hare as a movie. The first half of the movie became the first graphic novel, and the second half became the aborted project. I wonder if that's what the movie is using, or if they have a new script. Hmmm. Will try to investigate. -Rygar

Out of curiosity, JJ, how many people recognized you (besides the people at the Neal Adams and Shocker Toys booths)?

Good question. A lot more than I'd expected. I'd say that about 3/4 of the people who took my picture/commented on my costume recognized me as Bucky O'Hare. I got a few black dudes go "Aww shi-ot dawg! Dat's Bucky O'Hare! Man, das OL SCHOOL!" I'd give them a hi-five handshake thing, and be on my way. It was a lot of fun. A number of people said "Wow, I don't thing I've ever seen Bucky O'Hare before!"
It made my day, however, when an artist for Aquaman was at his booth and yelled, "hey, Bucky." I got talking to him, and got a drawing for my friend Jim who's a HUGE Aquaman fan. But anyway, as I was bout to leave, he goes to me "Ya know, I see a LOT of costumes at these things, but very few impress me. Good Job." That was badass. It put me on cloud nine.
One strange, STRANGE thing that happened, however. I was looking through a longbox of comics, when I got a tug on my ear. I turn to see a large man with a HUGE smile on his face. In very poor english, he says to me "Your costume, it very funny!" Not to be mean, but the way he said it, I thought he was mentally impaired, just so you have an idea of how this man was talking to me. I tell him thanks, and turn to go back looking through comics, when he says "Yes, it is good joke." I chuckled, thinking "ok, he's probably just foreign. Some foreign joke I'm missing." This is when he says to me, "I give you Ten dollar if you let me tape you up." As he says this, he makes a duck taping motion, holding an imaginary roll of tape with one hand as he mimed pulling a strand with the other.
Confused, I politely reply "Haha, nah, sorry." This wasnt enough, as he responds with "come on. Here, I give you fifty dollar." I was in disbelief, fifty dollars to tape me up? As tempting as it was, I once again declined. At this point, he leans in close to me, and with a serious tone says "Come on man. It just a joke. I'm not going to **** you or anything." Taken aback, I stood there, speechless. He quickly regained his smile and says "Don't move! I go get tape!" At this he turn and walked away to get his tape. In a quick Flight or Flight moment, I yelled to my friend, "We're going, NOW." As fast as I could in a pair of yellow clown shoes, I ran a good three rows over and hid around a corner. I waited for my friend, and told him what happened. Needless to say, I avoided that corner for the rest of the day, but still had the eerie feeling I would get a hand on my shoulder, and turn to see his happy face, saying "There you are" as he raises a roll of tape.
Epilogue: Sunday, I was in my civilian clothing, and went back to the stand. He was there, but was none the wiser to the fact that I was the green rabbit that he so dearly wanted to tape. I bought my comics, fearing that he'd recognize my voice, and put that together with my pony tail and the specks of green that hadnt come off yet. I was lucky, as he gave me my change and let me go with no trouble. I've dressed up in public a number of times in a number of costumes, and for all of the strange, rude, idolizing comments and requests I've had, this takes the cake.
But, anyway, I worked on the belt a little bit today. It's comin along. I want to invest in a new nosepiece, since the snout I used doesnt look very good upclose. I also want to make some spats for the boots, and finish the gun. Thanks for all the support you guys have been givin!
-JJ
P.S. Who should I tackle next? I'm torn B.T. the challenge of Deadeye's 4 arms or the coolness of a Storm Toad suit.
