Does anyone know why the Bucky O'Hare series was cancelled?

The short answer is that according to people like Neal Adams, the show had good ratings but toy line sold poorly.
The longer and more accurate version is that Hasbro screwed up when it came to how many of each character ship in a box. They decided to under-pack popular characters like Bucky and over-pack characters like Toad Air Marshall, so you might get 1 Bucky in a box but 3 Air Marshalls.
This created a huge problem because the popular characters like Bucky and Deadeye flew off the shelves, but the over-packed Air Marshall and Blinky figures clogged the pegs, leaving no room for fresh boxes of figures. Since stores had so much product that wasn't moving, they didn't order more. As a result, the Bucky O'Hare toyline failed and took the show down with it.
Had Hasbro balances their boxes better, it's very likely that we would have seen at least the next wave of figures, and likely another season of the show. But unfortunately, almost all action animation lives or dies by its toyline, so Bucky was killed after 13 episodes.

Fun fact: Bucky O'Hare failing also killed the in-development Space Usagi cartoon!

When I was a kid I begged for some Bucky O'Hare toys. My mom and dad looked everywhere and for my birthday I got Toad Air Marshall, Al-Negator and Bruiser... I had to pretend some white rabbit from TMNT was Bucky... Curse you Hasbro! Curse You!

Usagi Yojimbo!
Sad coincidence, Bucky O'Hare tanking caused Usagi Yojimbo's in-development show to be abandoned.
