Hi.. the newb comes out and attempts creating a thread at the same time, just hope a thread similar to this hasn't been created already, but.. Would anyone else agree Bucky has to be one of the most diverse 'anthro' oriented cartoons out there, I mean it has species in other cartoons could barely shake a stick at..

Bucky is obviously largely drawn from Star Wars, which had a wide variety of races in it, except with Bucky they're all mysteriously anthropomorphic animals.

First of all, I wanna say welcome to the MB Shiftael, and to Whitehind, Cencurius(did I spell that right) and Roarey. These guys are the latest addition to the MB family, sorry if I didn't welcome you guys before.
Now to the topic, I agree that BoH started from SW since SW has many races just like BoH not to mention the weaponry they use

I've always thought of Bucky as the kind of cartoon who would look at things from a serious angle, whereas other cartoon rabbits would just try and make a joke out of things, as I explained in WHEN BUCKY O' HARE MET ROGER RABBIT.
Bucky has some wit, but he doesn't always try to make a career out of it like Bugs Bunny would do. I think that's what makes Bucky stand out in the cartoon world.

I'd say, personally, that Disney's TaleSpin is the most diverse cartoon starring anthropomorphic animals (as it was really the only one of Disney's shows that did not feature a seemingly endless parade of ducks and "goofs"). And what species does Bucky O'Hare have that other shows did not?
At the moment, I can only think of the toads... BOH was really the only show that had anthropomorphic amphibians in a prominent supporting role.
Hares/rabbits, ducks, cats, alligators, apes, pigs, foxes... they all got more than their share of representation on most of Disney's cartoons.

There is one difference between Disney and Bucky though. The Bucky cartoons didn't feature any cattle or cows in speaking roles, yet Disney did with Clarabel Cow. Also Bucky featured Ramsay McLeod, but Disney made few or no cartoons featuring racoons.

If I recall correctly, he had one or two lines as a bit part (i.e. nameless random victim for Al Negator), so I don't know if that really counts. -Rygar

Somewhat OT, but the only really prominent bovine characters I've seen in Disney would be Taurus Bulba and his assistant, Miss Clovis, on Darkwing Duck. Still, two more than BOH had. EDIT: I'm aware of the movie "Home on the Range", but I meant anthro bovines. EDIT II: And then of course there's Wild West Cowboys of Moo Mesa...

"Hey! A character with one line! Let's go for it!"

I think his name was Bootbill Buzzard.
WWCBOMM was an alright show. I could just never get over the one glaring plot oversight: That no one aside from the cowboys themselves seemed to figure out that Sheriff Terribull was the villainous Masked Bull. I mean, Boothill Buzzard and his partner Saddlesore Scorpion not only worked as deputies for the Sheriff, but they were also the Masked Bull's henchmen (and unlike their boss, did not wear masks). You'd think somebody would make the obvious connection after seeing those two goons with both Sheriff Terribull and the Masked Bull.
EDIT: Yes, I know that was, like, way off topic, but I had to rant. XD

OK, Ramsay McLeod was a bad example. BUT, in the TV series, most rabbits have either green or brown fur, with the odd grey rabbit here and there. I remember there were very few white rabbits (With the exception of those in the Slave Ship from WAR OF THE WARTS) but white fur is all too common in Disney. Just look at the White Rabbit or Roger Rabbit and even a couple of baby hares in BAMBI.

There's a mad scientist rabbit, Dr. Debolt, in the four-part series pilot for TaleSpin, "Plunder and Lightning", who is kind of yellowish and bears more than a passing resemblance to the rabbit from Winnie the Pooh, albeit with frizzy gray mad scientist hair. Other rabbits appear in the "regular" series of TS, such as wannabe spy Jack Case (who is grayish tan), a mechanic named Bobo (who is light gray), King Amok, the ruler of Macadamia (who is white), and another, unnamed rabbit scientist - although not a mad one (who is blue!). There may also have been some misc. background characters, too. I'm unsure if any anthro rabbits/hares appeared in any other Disney TV toons, with the exception of the three "Cute Little Lost Bunnies" on Darkwing Duck, who were, if I remember correctly, blue, pink, and yellow. So, not that I'm trying to be a smartypants know-it-all, but I think the rabbits of other colors outnumber the white rabbits in Disney.

Just look at the White Rabbit or Roger Rabbit and even a couple of baby hares in BAMBI. Well, think about it. Most rabbits are white, black, a form of tan/brown, or some combination. Black is a bad color for a character to be in animation and art, and combination colors are more work to color. So you're left with tan and white/grey and tan is not really an overwhelmingly pleasant color. Bucky, of course, was green, but Bucky is a freak in terms of that sort of thing.
