Well, so far there is praise rather than complaint, so I guess the pic is suitable. Comet is a fine guy, but hard to talk to as his english is poor, but he sure knows his work and has a smooth, clean style. He is also a very prolific artist, so one is not starved for examples. Here are two more head pics which have nothing to do with star fox, but will allow comparison between his pieces. Shesh, I seem to be becoming a pic monger Ryan Lewis

Comet does have a website, and yes, I know the address. I do not, however, think it would be a good idea to just give it out. While some of his work is sweet enough you can feel your teeth rot, some is adult enough to melt your eyes. If you wish to see more of his work as a means of learning about another artist's style and his use of colour, line and pose, then I guess I can find my way to give you that address (I would have to e-mail it to you, I'm at rlewis<@>ualberta.net). Otherwise, it might be best if you don't go looking though his "galleries" and save some sanity, all the art is mixed in and its very had to tell "what's what" before you open it. I can't stop anyone from looking for the site on their own, but I will still advise that if you do go looking, be sure your eyes can take a beating. On a lighter note, how about one more "selectively sized" pic portion ^ ^. Comet does have a website, and yes, I know the address. On a lighter note, how about one more "selectively sized" pic portion ^ ^. If you are indeed interested in a bit of line-work study, I might just have a site for you. Another fellow, American this time, has an appealing style and his black and white pics allow you to see the use of varied lines. A look in his B&W gallery will show that he uses thin lines to show distant objects and thicker for closer, as well as for definition. I have seen the guy work (a rather friendly and talkative chap, really) and he inks his fine pencils using an ink brush. I am not talking some fancy pen, but a sable-hair tipped brush and a jar of ink. By pressing down harder on the brush he can make the line thicker by making wider contact with the page. Conversely, he eases up to thin a line. You can see the whole effect as all the lines in these pics are done with ONE brush, no switching. I am happy to say I have a piece done by him in my sketch book, for free, such a nice guy ^ ^. Here's an example of his usual stab at humor for you sonic/toon fans. if you like it, please, go check out his fine site at www.joerosales.com/ . Check his personal info section to learn more about how and why he does his work, you might learn something and be glad for it. Ryan Lewis

I'm looking at the hand on the pink one... five fingers just look funny on furries. That's just me. Plus, I think it has something to do with the fact that all the fingers are drawn the same.

So, Powree, you will "fiiinnddd"? Sounds determined to me . I don't technically mind giving you the site address but I don't wanna be held responsible for anyone going cross-eyed. For that reason, I am not posting a link that can lead just any person to the abyss from which they might return changed. This whole site is based on a nice show that aired Saturday mornings and I am keeping that spirit in mind. Just toss me a line if you are dead set and ya, I will fess up the address. The first pic of the pink kitty up there is tame enough to post here in its entirty (Just Meeya in a red outfit and green cape posed before what looks like a costal village), but on that pic is also the site address as a bit of advertising for it. If I posted that pic whole, anyone could get the address if they can read the fine print. If such a surreptitious way of posting the site is okay with Rygar and such, as you would have to manually take the address from the pic and type it in yourself to get there, maybe that can work. Conversely, I could just send you the pic, but I would still need your e-mail. Really, in getting you this address I don't have a lot of safe options right now, if you have any let me know. And a free sketch from Joe, you bet. Its of a rabbit character of his that you might just find in a pic on his site walking with her gazelle friend. In this sketch she is painted up with tiger stripes as was in one of his comics staring her, called "The Art Lesson" if I remember rightly. I also have an inked piece of yet another rabbit, this time a black lop, knocking back pixi-sticks to earn a sugar rush, its quite cute. Comet, Trump, Monty and Matsurino are also very good about free sketches. These guys also have little piles of free art that they have out in front of them while they sketch away madly and stacks of art CD's. A nice group but again, english not so good. They tend to say "Thank you, thank you very much." to whatever you say to them and keep working. One of the other artists around, who shall remain nameless, decided to joke around with them once. He walked up, handing in his sketch book, and said "I use your art to wipe my ***." to which Matsurino said "Thank you, thank you very much". There were a few smiles and chuckles about that, with the Japs looking confused, until their translator filled them in. Lucky for that guy they were good sports and took the tease with grace, not such bad guys. If you read Joe's site he mentions what brush he uses and advises NOT to try unless you want to put years of work into it. His technique involves not moving ones wrist, only the elbow, to both vary the pressure and control the brush direction. Just go with what works for you is his advice, can't go wrong there. Well, well, its been a while since Claudia posted in this thread. Last I read you were trying to see the blue, fox, thingy in the trailer. That pic I first posted should let you see the blue fox clearly enough . You would be right about the pic one up above, named Meeya by the way, in that she has a strange looking hand. Not only does it have five fingers but they are also a bit on the short side for a hand that size. Comet to me is best when doing faces, his use of well drawn eyes and hugely sized ears with curvaceous facial features seems to be a winning combination. When he colours his pieces his eye for hues adds more than it detracts as colour often does. Meeya was inspired by an old show that Comet saw a long time ago. If any of you have seen it you would see the resemblance. The show is called Baghi/Bagi and features a pink cat, go figure. I won't give any of this away to those who have not seen it, but here is a link that might be of interest about it pantransit.reptiles.org/images/sorted/anime/bagi/ . Okay, that's my piece for today and no star fox again ^ ^ Ryan Lewis

Hmmm, my quote of "I use your art to wipe etc etc" got changed. I guess we have a filter or something. I bet you can guess the rest anyway, the wipe gives it away. I have not had much luck the last few posts, something wrong with them in some way every time. This one got censored or something, before that a "hic-up" of post material, and before that I got my images in wrong. On a roll here.

Ahhhh, Powree's gone cross-eyed, now the comic will never be finished! ^ ^ Well, you actually sat down and hunted the site down yourself, that at least saves me from having to supply it. Hope you found something there to make it worth your while.

Fortunately, after some modifications, I got the right track. Good thing he's famous. XD

Comet is fairly well known in his own sphere more or less, his style is hard to deny as it has a crisp appeal. Well, at least you managed to find what you were looking for, but I don't know if that is fully a good thing all things considered . Anyway, I suppose its always good to add another character model to the old repertoire, if you can fine something that looks good and find out why you can put that to work for you. Krystal is fairly common "fan art" material for obvious reasons, rare-ware knew what they were doing the day she was brought about. There is another Krystal pic by a fellow that goes by the name of Caddell, a very blunt but reasonable guy really. He has worked with other artists to publish collaborative materials and seems to have a hold on reliability of other people when it counts (if you want to know a bit about marketing your personal works I think he would be a good individual to question, stop by his FAQ page for some general info). He is also fairly prolific with his work and posts a good deal of it on the net. At his site www.romusz.com he has his pieces organized by maturity so you can go view what you want at what level you want. Buried there somewhere you will find a whole pic of the snippet I offer here as an example of his style and skill. Thanks to his categories you won't end up somewhere you wished you hadn't by mistake, so I feel okay giving out the address. In his more "sketchy" work (under Doodles) you can see how he constructs character "skeletons", or scaffolding if you will, to which he fills in details later. This is a very common method but so far as I noticed each person has their own way of going about it and you can learn quite a bit by comparing these methods. I have had the opportunity to have front-row seats to this myself, and I count myself a bit more informed for it. In fact, I was there to watch Caddell try to outdo a pic of Krystal, if you can believe it, in someone's sketchbook. He sat down, looked thoughtful and determined and then after some moments grinned madly with inspiration and got to work. The result of that is now up on his site, but just which pic it is exactly is my secret , suffice to say if you view everything on his site you will see it anyway. By the way, the pic he had to follow in that book was done by Max Blackrabbit, if that name rings a bell to anyone. Those who do know will understand that was not a challenge to scoff at, Max has a style that has literally won him a large following to the point its hard for him to get any peace. Well, I should stop babbling now and present that pic section for ya, maybe it will partially fulfill Hush's wish, as it is a sketch. Ryan Lewis
