Hmmm, I guess it would be prudent of me to say before I go, anyone wishing to find the full pic of Krystal as shown above, its NOT in the PG section. It can be found in the Doodles (the section I would recommend more anyway for study on method) section, page 7, second one in. Those directions will keep you from having to slog though to much if you absolutely must find it, as Doodles are a hodge-podge of any sort of material at all that is not in a finished state. The full pic does have a mature theme, and while it is mild a warning is still given.
On a good note, if you can stand to look around, you will see doodles that capture his "interesting" sense of humor (i.e. Doodles, page one number one, SARS, for those of you familair with Resident Evil).

Drool drool drooly drool....'Ahem' Nice pic she always seems to look a lot cuter when I see her drawn than seeing her in the game.... ;D

Well, I take it by the response that you do indeed like the sketch. What I like about the very medium is that Caddell chose to do this particular sketch with a blue pencil. I do not know if he did this on purpose, or if just a blue pencil was the only instrument around at the time. What we then have here is a sketch of Krystal, a normally blue creature, without the use of actual colouring and we still get the colour right. From looking the pic over, I would guess that it would not be significantly enhanced by actual colouring, by hand or otherwise. In fact, colour might well damage the crispness of its sketchy composition. Just looking at the eyes tells me this much (you can tell a lot about a piece by looking at the eyes), he did take more effort here than just about anywhere in the whole pic, adding detail to the very iris. The eye itself is highlighted with a thick, heavy line that is not common elsewhere in the pic as a whole, which does seem to help draw attention. Eyes are so very much key, and there would be almost no way to colour this without ripping the whole pic apart and re-making it expressly for colour. Hmmm, one of these days I will have to make a posting of S. Howard's "How to Draw" series. Each is a full body turn-around of the subject, often with detail close-ups of eyes, hair braiding, etc. I like the idea already, guess I will dig about in the old archives and drag a few up if any are interested.
Till later Ryan Lewis

I have a fair collection of pieces that one can use to learn from, and I have my reasons for having them, not that I really have reason anymore. Does that mean you want a looky? I suppose I will stick up a few from the fine collection of Shawntae Howard and maybe say a bit about them. Well, here we have a colour version of an old model sheet, one of the first I ever saw done by Howard. I must have seen this nearly seven years ago now, and he has improved much since then. He has a sheet like this for each of his characters who star in his now published comic, Extinctioners. As I said earlier, its a full body turn around more or less with a few side details on the face and eyes that can come in handy. To the right is a full body side view in colour to show what this character would look like in uniform. Keep your eye on how things look here and compare them with the next one done later on. Its easy to see that he much improved since the time he made the one up-top. Included here are the character skeletons I mentioned in several poses along with the full finished result beside it. As a bonus we are even given the bone structure of the skull upon which is superimposed the rest of the head. When learning anatomy of a subject, you can't go wrong starting at such true basics. Much the same idea as the other two, but with a different character and a different layout. A few very simplistic character skeletons working up to the end result once more, making the whole process almost seem easy. Below that are detailed head studies that even cover the structure of the hair. While this piece is quite informative on this one character it might not help in general application. My main reason for posting it is to compare to the next pic, which might give you a laugh. It seems a fellow artist wished to poke a little fun at Howard and came up with this parody. I think it speaks for itself. Anyway, that should be my bag of wind for the day. Ryan Lewis

Powree, did you maybe find the last post above of any intrest, if so Howard has other "How To's" if you are interested. Still S.P.A.C.E.'d out Ryan Lews

Well, as I think Nintendo holds the rights to the Star Fox name and characters I doubt they will do much to allow Sony any part of it. Just as with Star Fox Adventures it looks like you will need a Nintendo system to try it out. Would it be somewhat of a tease to say that I have a music video for Star Fox Adventures? It uses many of the movies from the game and plays them to the song "The Warrior" by , and its not bad really. The same collection has "Weird Science" using Pinky and the Brain, "Danger Zone" using Tail Spins and SWAT Cats, "Devil Woman" with Duck Tales. The one I get the biggest kick out of is "The Look" using a huge number of clips from just about every cartoon (Tiny Toons, Space Jam, Cats Don't Dance, Animaniacs, Goofy Movie, Sonic the Hedgehog, Conkers Bad Fur Day and Rescue Rangers to name some). The intro of this one sort of sums up the general spirit of the video to follow. Nice to see they have a sense of humour. And here is a single still from "The Look" video. Yay, bunny. Maybe I could take some time to score a few stills from The Warrior video too. Yes Powree, you could say I have more of the same from Howard's How Too series. I also have other sheets and such from other artists. If you want to actually see any more let me know or something ya? Blessed are the birds, for they are sweet and crunchy. Ryan Lewis

Where? I picked up this DVD with the videos on it at a get-together of psychologically disturbed people who think they can draw (you can see many examples of said disturbed people in this very thread, actually) down in Memphis Tennessee. One individual was peddling a few stacks of home-made disks. Some were just shows you might rent just about anywhere (Space Jam, Rock and Rule for example), some where to strange to believe (Star Wars Christmas Special the animation...don't ask, still in rehab) and playing on the display was the collection I have now. The collection is called "Toon TV Music Videos". I tried a search on the net a few times since I got it, hoping to maybe find a provider for more (people I have shown it to wished a copy as well) and so far no luck. One idea would be to make a digital copy of the tracks in question available for download. There are two problems with that: 1) I don't know how. I have tried to use my still gathering programs ability to record actual video but it comes out huge in memory size, like a few Gigs a second, its nuts. 2) On the box of the DVD is a warning not to duplicate the disk, or he will get Winger to sic Pup and Pandora on me, and I REALLY don't want that. You don't want that to happen to me either, trust me. I picked a selection of stills for those interested, and here they are: Total Star Fox Bonanza today Ryan Lewis

Thanks in advance. XD

Guns, mecha? Ohhhh, sounds violent, what are you planning Powree? Anyway, these sorts of things do not seem very common as you could guess. However, there might be some use found in RPG books that deal with that sort of thing. d20 Modern and d20 Future might be worth a look, at least you will have black and white pics of guns, mecha and other such metal-plated objects. I might be able to drag up an example or two from these books so you can see what I mean. I dropped by again to see how this thread is doing, and wow did it get quiet. Guess I should slap up more Star Fox goodies ya? And how about another piccy by Comet just because Okay doe, lets see if I can manage to find a few pieces from the old RPG files ^ ^ "I can see! I can see! I also believe I can fly!" Ryan Lewis

Hmmm, well the files are in PDF and so are not easy for me to reach in and take what I want. You might be able to find a copy of such books at a store (or online from a P2P network like Kazza. 61 Meg file so email could be out of the question). I suppose once again I turn to the usual collection of crazy people with pencils for aid on the drawing subject. One fella I have had my eye on for his work is "Greywolf". He is experienced in a wide range of various subject matter, from organic to synthetic (like mecha). It might be worth your time to drop by his site and look around, maybe he has some of what you are in need of. For mecha greywolf.critter.net/gallery/mekagallery.htmFor his galleries greywolf.critter.net/gallery.htmAs for guns, hmmm. Real-life pics of guns can be more complex to draw from than one might think. The hand-drawn schematics of plain black and white would be best, these allow a grasp of design and ease of colouring later. Once again, many RPG books will have drawings of firearms running a wide gambit of designs, so it is here I suggest you look. If you have stores that carry such books in your area, go down and ask (or look about for yourself) for RPG books dealing with a modern or future era, then check out sections like "Weapons", "Equipment", "Gear", and any other sections that sound promising. If I remember rightly, a book called "d20 Spycraft" might be something you can use. The whole book seems based off of the same thing as a game called "Metal Gear: Solid" and had some fine pics and descriptions. If I can find anything from this book I will let you know.
