I don't know if anyone else has been sad enough (like me) to watch Jerry Andersons new, state of the art, amazingly poor CGI rape of a classic that is Captain Scarlet... I might be being harsh and i'm sorry if anyone enjoys it... no offence meant to anyones tastes or opinions...
Captain Scarlet seems to switch randomly between american and english accents... the cool SPVs' have gone... Lieutenant green has had a rather nasty accident and turned into a woman.... and the theme song's been replaced by something with no character whatsoever...

Sorry. I wanted to see it but I do my washing at the laundrettes on Saturday mornings and my video recorder has decided to play up. What I got of the first episode seemed to have the right idea, but then I didn't have any sound. Sad to hear that it is rubbish.
Something that has been bothering me about the origional series. Captain Scarlet dies in the first episode, and a Mysteron duplicate is created. The Captain Scarlet who is the main character in the series is that duplicant, not the poor guy in the unmarked grave near the world capital.

The stupidest thing is, Supermarionation isn't dead yet. Messrs Stone and Parker proved that with the sublime Team America. Anderson is increasingly moving towards the 'hack' label, if he hasn't reached it already. Haven't yet seen the new Capt. Scarlet but I'm not entirely sure that I'll be impressed. Hell, that Volkswagen advert that recklessly shafts Singin' In The Rain freaked me out. Hi to all oldies btw, I haven't been around for a long while partly due to sheer laziness, partly due to mucho extra-curricular activity at uni. Quite a community has been built here - wooooo! Will try and get more involved again from hereon in.......

Yeah I understand what you mean. I thought it was the laziest thing i've ever seen. Actually just terrible in general. "Jolly well done Captain scarlet ol' boy, if you've quite finished with it we'd like our lancaster back. We do hope you haven't pranged the old girl. Pip pip old bean. From the RAF" ARGH!!! BTW while on the topic of remakes has anyone seen Doctor Who or the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or War of the Worlds Trailers? If so what d'ya think?

Please, do not get me started on the travasty that is Disney Hitchhikers Guide. Bedazeled (sp) wasn't good enough to spoil, now ya gotta dig up Hitchhikers, which was perfectly good in my opinon as the old movie and the book. Same goes for War of the Worlds and Doctor Who, though I've not had the bad luck to see the trailers yet.

The Doctor Who series now showing on BBC 1 is O.K. Did you know that The Quatermass Experiment is also being remade?

I've seen the WOTW trailer... it makes out that the martians are already on earth and they're hiding underground As for Hitchhikers I've only seen stills and Marvin looks c***! Yeah I caught doctor who! It was okay despite Graham Norton leaving his mic on after Strictly Dance Fever. Even though I still think they should have opened the series with Daleks or Cybermen... rather than the less well known Autons. They're remaking Quatermass?

I've saw the new Quatermass! Why do they always seem to talk the genocidal, sociopathic monsters into surrender? "Fight it... I know you're in there somewhere... fight it..." und so weiter. Anyway despite being a low budget BBC venture I thought it was bearable...

Graham Norton? I had wondered what that noise was.
My mother, who watched a good part of Doctor Who's original run, is less impressed than me by the current series. She dislikes that fact that each episode is a single story, where as before each story took place over several episodes. Each complete story would be about twice the length of the current crop.

Yeah, if you condense the stories down into single episodes you're bound to lose quality. But saying that if you miss one installment of a multi episode story, that might ruin it too...
