Dan´s recent thread inspired me to make this one.
How can we determinate what crush is right or wrong for a person´s health?
Example: A teenager feels a crush for Avril Lavigne so maybe we consider that a normal crush, but if he feels a crush for Starfire from Teen Titans; Can we consider that a little wrong crush? And if that same teenager feels a crush for Krystal from Star Fox should we consider that a totally wrong crush?
I´m sure there are lot of Psychological, Moral and Religious factors to consider for achieve an answer so it will be very interesting to hear all your opinions.

Honestly, there is no Right or Wrong crush. WHen a person feels a crush is right, someone will say it is wrong and vice versa. The biggest thing is to stay open minded for opinions about the crushes. Man, I hope this doesn't make me sound like a Counselor.

I'll take the crush on Jenny is as healthy as being a cartoon character's fan. Come on, even we gather here because we're a fan of Bucky o Hare. A totally cartoony character. A green.hare.
As long it's still in the line, I think it's okay. Now, if it turned into some sort of (excuse me) bestiality... Now that's crossing the line...

If were talking of crush based on personality, theres nothing wrong there. Probably the dude will have a crush on the animated character because he sees his dream girl within the character
But looking at the posts, were talking about phaysical appearance. So in this case I don't think its wrong for health. Probably the way the character was animated, well how do I say this, turned on the viewer. You know everyone has a taste in the opposite gender and just so happens the character fitted well in that, except its either in cartoon or animal form. I think the main cause of this isprobably the clothing and the figure. If a guy is into the bikertype of girl, then he would like an animated character in that combo of dress. Now the figure is one of the main reasons, I think, since every ddes dream girl would have to have a nice figure (not unless you've never thought of a dream girl), I mean who would have a fat girl someone they would day dream about during class (probably a wierdo). But back to the main topic, I think it only become unhealthy when the dude starts doing wierd stuff. Like spending countless hours making a lifesize replica of the character and start, uhm, doing stuff to it. In other words, obsession to the point he thinks that what he is doing is not at all wrong in the sense of his love life.

Addition: Just to clarify things. When I say dream girl in the first paragraph, I mean it in acoord to personality and in accord to physical beauty in the second paragraph

I wanted to say here and now that I was offended by the comment quoted above. I am fat. I know I am fat. I'm 5'0" and over 200 pounds of short, round, mexican-colombian woman. And I'm happily married to a man that finds me sexier than any of those 'nice figure' women. To say only weirdos daydream about a fat girl is insulting and makes me sick to my stomach. I know that my husband daydreams about me, and my round round body. To say everyone is a very very wrong assumption, and I would suggest that you watch the movie "Shallow Hal". As for the topic of this thread, I do admit that I have crushes on animated characters, all of which stem from the fact that I have either played a character from or created a character for whatever series in question. (ie Heroes & Villians MUX - Hino Rei aka Sailor Mars, had the hugest crush on Chiba Mamoru aka Tuxedo Kamen, who ended up being played by my husband.) I admit I have a crush on Tommy' personality, but that's because my own husband is the inspiration for it; the concept of Tommy and his role in Aldebaran society stems from a storyline I ran my husband through nearly a decade ago using the old Paladium RPG rules set (which, btw, was very unwieldy and is not something I think I'll be trying again... ever - Blood of Heroes, on the other hand...) In short, the fat comment made me very very angry, and having a crush is fine. Being into beastlity is fine by me also - just don't shove it in my face, and don't get insulted when I tell you that certain comments, pictures, stories, etc revolt me. Have your pleasure with your kitty cat. I don't care. Just don't send me pictures of it, thank you. PS: Being a furry is also not a problem. I have a furry friend, a very dear friend. I've told him that I don't like those 'let's make love like animals' furries that draw all sorts of nasty pictures of rabbits humping bears and so forth. He understands, and respects it, and don't bring it up unless I have a question about it. Thank you.

I'm a furry, I guess (I've drawn my fair share of the sort of stuff that Claudia spoke of at the end of her post there, but I don't thrust it at people I know won't want to see it). I am also a homosexual. Bucky O'Hare is one of my biggest cartoon character crushes, because I find him to be very heroic and (in his own way) handsome. I have several other male cartoon character crushes, too. Does this make me weird? Probably. But I don't really care. With regards to the psychological, moral and religious issues... well, let's begin with psychological. Although my boyfriend is taking psych in college I know absolutely nothing about the subject. I honestly have no idea what made me the way I am, and it doesn't keep me up nights so I don't really have anything to say about this aspect of the discussion. As for morals? Who is honestly hurt if I feel an attraction towards an animated character? Absolutely no one. If a Star Wars fan can lust after Princess Leia I can certainly do the same with Bucky, because I honestly don't see a difference: a fictional character is a fictional character. And finally, religion. All of us here don't share the same religious beliefs, so I honestly don't think religion should enter into this discussion at all. So, no comment on that from me.

I married someone i found attractive and thought of most of the time, still do for that matter. She is 5'3" and weighs 200 lbs. Not everyone thinks only skinny ladies are worth dreaming about. As for furry fans, not a problem with them here. As things sit right now, I am making a feliniod costume adn wroking on getting the ankle structure correct, breaking my own ankles in the process it feels like. D*mn stilts. Anyways, any other discussions for this thread, hopefully ones with a friendler tone. Who all has made costume perhaps??

When we´re dealing with fictional characters I think that there are various feelings we develop for them and not only crushes.
One of them is Afection, like the one that a little kid have for his teddy bear.
Other can be when a kid admires the qualities of his hero like Sonic or TMNT.
They are stereotypes of our fantasies that reflects many human flaws and virtues.
Maybe crush it´s not my real motivation, maybe I look for other feelings, feelings that I need to aliviate my loneliness....oh, so dear loneliness... the principal company of my generation.

Loneliness is the tool that pushes our imagination. Hence teh invisible friend for little children. It evens spurs on many writers and artist. Before i was married, it spurred on my writing skills and imagination. Don't hate loneliness, learn from it and use it.

This is exactly why I spent 30 minutes thinking this post over First of all I am sorry Claudia, I didn't really mean to hurt you. But I think you read it wrong, note: this has no mean to attack you Claudia. This refers to those who have dreamgirls BEFORE they are married or have a special someone. Because a dream girl is his image of what he WANTS his GF or wife to be in accord to PHYSICAL APPEARANCE. That how I saw it as at least. But in favor of you Claudia, I have this. I dont think your husband is at all wierd. Because I have a belief in life (whihc I made to a song hehehe). I believe that many women are beautiful in appearance, but that doesn't match to the beauty insode of people. Because a girl may not be a guys type when he looks at her, but when he gets to know whats inside her (and i mean personality if there are any perverted guys here) and falls in love with her because of that, that girl become the most beautiful woman in the world for him it goes far beyond any fashion model there. So Claudia, to your husband, your the most beautiful woman in the world, but you probably didn't need me to tell you that. ;D And I'm still sorry that I hurt you back there

HEy Dahaka,
I guess this is a good example of a lesson i learned the hard way. Not everyone will get the same meaning out of a sentence that you may get. All i can say is think and type very carefully on subjects like these.
On to other subjects in this topic....

But thanks for your comments anyway.
