This morning I sliced my finger open with a steak knife. The cut wasn't deep enough to be stitched, but was too deep for bandages to stop the bleeding. So I went online searching for common household things that could be used to stop or slow bleeding -since the safety office at my college didn't have any styptic- and what everyone recommended was tea! What they said was, find the most dirt cheat black tea you can, wet the bag, and hold it against the cut. The tannic acid acts as a styptic, stopping the bleeding. And the crazy thing it, it works! Four hours of bandages couldn’t get that **** thing to stop bleeding, but fifteen minutes holding a wet teabag against it and the bleeding stopped!
So my recommendation to all of you is, stock up on dirt cheap, low quality tea, and stick that stuff on a bad cut whenever you get it.
It aches hard, but it’s nowhere near as bad as alcohol or styptic pencils.

What's with the automatic censorship?

Don't start. We didn't used to be able to write cockpit or wristwatch.
I'll have to remember the tea thing though.

and exactly WHY would 'wristwatch' be censored? trust me, I know some [darn] dirty swear words which are so filthy they'd break the censor here and make the 'f'-word harmless! I myself don't drink tea though, not too keen on the taste. My late cat Smokey loved tea though, we got a home video of him drinking a cup of tea in the month before we had him put to sleep (he was vomiting a lot )... PS in case you haven't noticed, there is light swearing in the BOH cartoon ('infernal', 'blasted', 'fly-sucking' etc.). 'Fly-sucking' was also used in one of the cutscenes on the arcade game ;D

Basically, the censor program looks for combinations of letters rather than whole words. Take some off the front and some off the back...

When it comes to Tea, it's also good as a kind of Aromatherapy, especially if you use tea-leaves. I guess that explains why we British drink so much of it.

Only, unlike most other herbal remedies, tea actually has solid evidence backing it up. Tannic acid has been shown to be a styptic.
