Brilliant.
It's great they appear to have taken care with making it a special release. Avid DVD collector that I am, I can only get excited by the phrase "2 DISC".

I'm slightly sceptic here. I'm from the U.S.A. California to be exact. I'm sceptic because I REALLY REALLY WANT to buy the DvD series of this most awsome show...
but is the dubbing the same in the U.K. as it was in the U.S.A.?
If not, then I'd rather wait for it to come out in the U.S.A. on DvD... or has it come out already?
I hear there's a Pirated copy of it on DvD for sale on E-bay... I'd much prefer having the official though...

OK, I got it today and have the following to say for now: All 13 episodes. Original shooting scripts included as PDF files on the second disc. Fairly average transfer. Character bios. Voice actor list. Be thankful it even exists Any questions?

My review: First bear in mind that even when Bucky was first made in 1989, it was created on a very small budget which meant it couldn't get everything it wanted and the DVD people could only work with what they had. Content: All 12 episodes! Which is exactly what the UK has needed for years since some of the videos weren't for sale over here. As for the extras you do get the scripts and character profiles, but that's all. But a lot of this can be put down to the fact that they didn't have much else, commentaries? Well none of the staff have worked on Bucky for 10+ years and so i'm not sure they could add that much really. Artwork? well for the expense it's worth locating people and getting the rights it's not cost effective really. Interviews? documentaries? Well see commentaries for your answer. But overall, for providing a solid digital collection 9/10 Sound: Well no problem i can hear from viewing the first 5 episodes, everything is clear and concise and that's all that's needed. Presentation: Nicely done with scrolling shots of all the action, intercut with random snippets of stuff going boom! Plus the good box artwork but i think there's too much reliance on the main music theme though. 8/10. So overall i think it comes away with a solid 9, but add one point for the sheer courage of the makers at Metrodome who have taken a cartoon series which most people unfortunately have forgotten, and put it out on the marketplace well represented and manufactured without having legions of fans that Futurama and family guy can rely on, just for the few fans that really are thankful for this job just tells you something about the company. 10/10

Now all we need is for a cool company like that to be out in the U.S.A. and do that for Bucky O'Hare and Samurai Pizza Cats!

Bought it on Friday when the release took me by surprise, I'd been expecting a couple more days before it was out. Some shop assistant joker had slung this lone brand new copy just in front of their endless stock of Shaun Of The Dead (pretty good movie, though not as great as everyone seems to think) prompting me to buy it immediately. My evaluation is that they've done as good a job as they could have with a cartoon of this age and reputation. It's no secret that Bucky has a niche fanbase, but one which very much exists, and to that end it was good of them to even make the effort with the DVD ROM scripts feature. The animated menu gets you excited the minute that music flares up, and they certainly did the best with the material they had. The quality of remastering is also pretty high, despite the written warning just before the animated menu that the technological discrepancies may show through. For the first time in over 12 years I saw the last 5 episodes I'd long since forgotten, being particularly impressed by The Artificers of Aldeberan and the final ep, The Taking Of Pilot Jenny - the remarkably intelligent farce plot struck me by surprise, and the whole KOMPLEX robo-unit idea was cool. Just wish they'd known they weren't gonna make any more, and made it a slightly more conclusive, explosive finale. But eh, ya can't have everything. Maybe it's just me, but I thought the animation quality declined a little towards the end of the series- sure, it was never top class, but it was decent enough for a cartoon of its time, and on Corsair Canards, for example, it was pretty diabolical. Criticism aside, a well-put together and highly satisfactory package for a seemingly forgotten cartoon series. Still gives you those chills of uncorrupted, childish euphoria you got as a boy. Or girl. Now, somebody please release The Raccoons...
