The Aniverse, but it doesn't need to be in the present.

I see.
Here's an idea, but it doesn't have to be followed through.
In 1950's Warren, various reports of flying saucers (Experimental Toad craft) swamped the authorities so much so that a frigate was sent to investigate the recent saucer sightings in the Proxemis system as well as disappearances of Warren ambassadors on the planets in that system.

I'll take it under consideration.

OK, but like I said, it's just a thought.

Hmmm ....
Put me down as "curious, but still undecided" about this business of a GM-run RP. On the one hand, it could represent an opportunity for me to test the water myself, and do some RP'ing without having to catch up on a couple years' worth of continuity. On the other, adding a GM to the mix automatically makes things a lot stricter in terms of what you can and can't do, and I've already had a number of bad experiences with that - which makes me leery of anything that might take my character's fate out of my hands. Die rolls and other chance-based methods are especially annoying, as there's really no-one at all controlling the outcome.
So yeah, I'm really not sure one way or the other. I'd need more info about the whole thing before I could make up my mind.

Okay. One more person and I actually have to come up with something concrete.

If it comes right down to it, the GM can play one of the crew members. Not recommending it, but if you need a last-ditch fallback ....

True, but I'd rather not since I would know what was going to happen.

First thing to decide is the environment. I've got a few ideas, but this is an issue for discussion. Remember, starting characters should be comparatively inexperienced. The crew of the Righteous are extremely experienced. Firstly, we could simply commission a new UAC warship. Each player would have to pick a role since such a ship would need 1 engineer, 1 gunner and 1 pilot. Contrawise, we could do something similar for the Toad, though that would rather the limit the range of species. I said in an earlier post that we could set it in the past. Exploration missions have provided a rich source of ideas for science fiction. We could use the pre-UAC aniverse, where practical FTL is comparatively new. I wrote a time line, and really we could set it anywhere on that. The range of usable species might be less depending on when we set it. Depending on the nature of the mission non-military characters are possible. Other ideas and inputs?

I have one, Perhaps instead of having it on the Toads or Mammals sides, what about a neutral species, like the fish? They are neither amphibian or mammal. Just as a thought, their spacecraft could be filled entirely with water to keep them active.

That would make most tasks nearly impossible, but what does everyone else think?

HI everybody, just my thought on fish ship, I don't like it, however you should be allowed to play a nuteral species if you want. signed David G

First of all, I can't get at that time line of yours, since I'm not on the mailing list. Any possibility of putting it up here?
Personally, "commission a new warship" makes the most sense to me, mainly because the other options are overly restrictive for character choices, from what I know of the aniverse. Also, the charade of just three underpowered craft fending off an entire armada (even an incredibly incompetent one) gets a little hard to swallow after a while. The UAC sorely needs additional firepower to make the conflict more plausible.
