(This is a one-off story just to help clear up what happened at the end of Sonic X: Collision. Just so you know, this is written from Mac O'Damia's point of view rather than in the third person).
Sonic X: Unity
I know what you're thinking. How come a nobody like me gets to have all the exciting things happen to him? Well, let me tell you here and now, my friend, that all the things that have happened to me these last few weeks have been anything but fun.
As you probably already know by now, my world has been destroyed. Boiled away into space, along with some of my dearest friends. I just wish I had died on that world, and that they had lived, especially with what was to come next.
Have you ever been beaten up by a sadistic fruitbat? Believe me, I've fought against all kinds of enemies, but Rogue was the only one who could do me the most harm. With those green eyes, she would've actually looked kind of cute if it wasn't for that evil smirk she always wore. I'll bet she probably had a tragic experience in times past and took up misandry for a hobby. It would certainly explain why I'm now missing one of my back teeth.
After that, things got a little hazy. I guess that's because I was still drowsy from Rogue's punches. I remember Sonic - the blue hedgehog who runs about like he's addicted to caffiene - came up and tried to tackle Rogue, and in the fight, she dropped her penknife, which I was able to use to cut myself free. I then shot her with the stun-gun I always keep in my right holster, and then...
I suddenly felt as though a whole weight had been taken off my shoulders. I couldn't see anything around me save a blinding white light, but I could physically feel my wounds healing themselves. Every nerve ending of my being tingled with a sense of vitality. It felt as though I were being rejuvenated - refreshed, even. Then, I just passed out.
When I came to, I found myself in a lush, green field miles from anywhere. There were a few trees marked here and there, but nothing else save for a lot of steep hills in the distance. I wandered around for a time, trying to get my bearings, and then I finally came across a dirt road and stuck to that, hoping to find some town or other to try and find out where I was. In light of my universe-hopping thanks to the tyrant Sonic and his friends called Mephiles, I was gradually getting accustomed to all of this, so the possibility that I'd landed on yet another universe didn't really unnerve me all that much.
I don't know how, but I eventually found myself at the edge of a huge cliff-face that looked out over a receding shoreline several hundred feet below. Anybody who's seen the white cliffs of Dover will get a rough idea of what the scene looked like. I sat down on the edge of the cliff, resting after my walk, but as I sat down, I felt something sharp pointing into my back, and a woman's voice hissing harshly in my left ear:
"If you want to live, then don't move,"
At first, I thought that Rogue had found me, but no. The voice sounded much more sonorous than Rogue's velvety tones. A white, gloved hand grabbed my chest and spun me around, and I found myself staring into the face of what I can only describe as the female equivalent of Shadow. A pair of bloodshot eyes stared icily at me, whilst a set of brilliantly white teeth, framed by black lipstick, snarled at my presence.
"OK, Fluffy," this Fem-Shadow hissed. "You've got ten seconds to tell me how you got here, and you'd better tell me fast if you don't want to take the quick way down the cliffs," I got the message perfectly, and told my captor all she wanted to know. She gently released me, toying with the dirk in her hand. From a distance, I could see she was wearing a deep-red garment over her frame that hid her sensitive parts from view. She turned to face me again, a little less threatening this time.
"And you say you were being beaten up by a fruitbat. Tell me, was she wearing a suit with blue, broken-hearts all over it?"
"Why...yes," I nodded, confused. "How do you...?"
"Know?" Fem-Shadow finished my words. "She turned up here only half an hour ago. Tried to beat me to a pulp, the stupid b***h. Let's just say she's gone for a very long swim,"
So Rogue was dead, killed by her own arrogance. And here was I, alone on a world that I knew little about, save that the genders were all reversed. I stood up, walking a little closer to my captor.
"Well, in that case, I'm indebted to you, Miss..." I began, and then faltered.
"If it's any of your business, I'm Shada," she crossed her arms, looking at me. "Shada the Hedgehog,"
"Mac. Mac O'Damia," I held out a hand to shake, but Shada ignored it. "Anyway, in killing Rogue, I owe you my life, and as an officer and a gentleman, I always repay my debts," For a moment, Shada just glared at me, and then finally grunted:
"You can stay with me if you can keep up. And less of the mouth if you don't mind. It was too much mouth that got your friend killed,"
And that's how things are. Exactly why Rogue and I were spat onto this previously unknown universe, I honestly can't explain, unless it has something to do with that ever-mysterious Master Emerald that everybody preaches about. But after that shaky start, Shada and I have gotten on well, but just as friends, you understand. Deep down, I think Shada is just a lonely little girl, but that she tries to hide it by being tough and arrogant. Of course, I've never told her that. I wouldn't be telling this story if I did tell her.
We rarely get company, owing to Shada's misanthropic nature. Even now, I'm the only person she tolerates, providing I keep quiet and only talk when she wants advice. I suppose I'm getting used to it as well. I never really was much of a socialite, so maybe a life of solitude could prove a peaceful one.
But, of course, not everything lasts forever...
THE END
