"If it is of any interest to you two," Sludge announced. "I am offering an extra 2,500 simoleons to the first man to retrieve as much data on the Military Railway, with 1000 simoleons for the runner-up."

Cryer and Rusk exchanged glances, then looked back at Sludge and said in unison, "You got yourself a deal!"

* Back on the bridge of the Valiant the Captain reaches for the transmittor to hail the Toad ship once again *
"This is Captain Chinchilla and I'm giving you your final chance to make it out of this situation alive... The hostages you are hiding behind do not present a sufficient bargaining chip. We will blast you and your ship out of existance if you do not comply with our demands. I'm sure any mammals you cowering behind would rather die than become slaves to toads or be forced to divulge any information to you. Any attempt to retreat from Warren will result in your immediate destruction.... your only available course of action is to surrender", the captain releases the transmittor button and turns to the crew men behind him. "The three of you must take the toad croaker and board that ship... there is no way those toads will acknowledge defeat even if we were capable of destroying them. All of you suit up and blast off... and come back in one piece... your all fine animals and we'll be running a skeleton crew while you're gone; just me, our gunner and AFC Switch".
* The boarding team leave for the Croaker hanger *

"That's what he thinks," Cryer mutters, then shoves his way to the communications console. "May I?" he asks of the toad operator, and then without waiting for him to reply he radios the Valiant himself.
Proving to be quite a wonderful little actor as he works himself up into some fitful sobs, he whines, "Captain Ch--Chinchilla? This is L--L--Lt. Bartholomew Cryer. The t--t--toads have us all hostage aboard their ship, and they're r--really planning to go through with their threats to kill us all if you don't surrender yourselves."
Rusk suddenly covered his mouth to avoid giggling too loudly at this, as Cryer suddenly let loose a fearful squeal at nothing in particular. "Oh, no!" he cries. "Th--they've got a blaster to my head! I--I don't wanna die, Captain! You--you've just g--g--gotta surrender, please!"

Sludge watches as Cryer speaks with the Valiant, and turns to a Toad manning a gun turret. "Fire at the Valiant as hard as you can."
Nodding, the Toad opens fire and only just scrapes the stern of the Valiant.

* Captain Chinchilla is thrown across the bridge as the Toad's maser shot rocks the valiant. He reaches up to the console for the ships PA system button. *
"Target that toad ship... aim for the bridge and fire at will...", the captain slumps unconcious on the deck.
Meanwhile in the void between the two battling ships the Valiants Toad Croaker is hurtling toward the firing toad vessel. Its crew are armed to the teeth... ready for all out war.

Whirling to Sludge after he fires on the Valiant, Cryer shrieks, "What are you doing?! I could've gotten them to surrender! Now they're going to blow us into the next galaxy!"

"Not quite, Cryer," Sludge smiles. "You forget that I still give the commands here, and we still have one weapon." He flicks a switch and it shows Marsupial's wife still strapped to the chair.
"Commander Marsupial," Sludge calls over the tannoy. "If you want your wife to live, I suggest you tell your friends to back down immediately or we shall incinerate every atom in her body."

* Unaware of the events playing out on board the toad ship the Valiants skeleton crew are performing their last recieved orders. A volley of maser shots lances from the twin barrelled cannon in the gunners dome... they hit their mark scoring a couple of holes into the hull of the toad ship, melting through the thick metal. However the toads had luck on their side... the active gunner on the valiant was a quick replacement after the original highly credited marksman was severly wounded in a toad ambush *

On the other side of the gash made by the Toad Croaker are several Toads in breathing apparatus plus one Toad Corporal, who simply sneers "Looks like you'll be executed along with Mrs. Marsupial!"

*Somewhere some mammalian god must have been smiling upon the valiants raider party... they crossed the warzone unscathed and momentarily arrived at the hull of the toad slave ship *
As the croaker glides to match the taod ship, within a metre of the hull, Ensign whitehind communicates with the other crewmen through a transmittor in his respirator.
"Quickly now... someone pass me a couple of magnetic clampers and a cutting tool!", even though he was outranked by all of his comrades none of them hesitated to follow his commands... after all he was taught by the famous Bucky O' hare. Someone hands him the requested objects and he wastes no time in clamping the croaker to the hull of the toad vessel and then activating the cutter to quickly slice an entrance way through the re-enforced armour.

Sludge slams a button on the console, and somewhere down the corridors is the sound of a woman screaming in agony. The screams eventually stop after a minute or so, and Sludge begins to laugh menacingly.
"It is too late mammals!" he chuckles evilly. "Mrs. Marsupial is dead!"

Hearing the screams coming from nearby, Cryer and Rusk visibly recoil in shock and horror, Cryer moreso than Rusk, and when the horrifying sounds finally end, Cryer simply stands there, mouth agape, blinking stupidly in disbelief, while Rusk covers his mouth, his cheeks bulging like he's fighting to keep down vomit, and he likely is.

* Meanwhile the crew of the Valiant have boarded the toad ship... having cut through the hull and depressurised a occupied crewmens quarters (despite their hatred of toads many of the raiders were horrified to see the toad occupant get sucked out of the room with the air - without a suit. He screamed silently as he was slowly asphyxiated and then became still.). They then had to seal the entrance they had made before they could leave the room otherwise they would depressurise most of the ship. *
Finally the door to the quarters opens and a berserker baboon steps through into the corridor, followed by Whitehind (who blasts a solitary toad worker in the chest before addressing the baboon). "I need you to take the other men up to the bridge and try to fight your way on ... hopefully that'll distract the toads long enough for me to release the prisoners. If the fighting gets too tough fall back to the croaker... i'll have to improvise to escape", he glances up and down the corridor, "Goodluck... i'll see soon". Whitehind sprints down a random corridor.

Slamming another button, there is now the slamming of heavy metal doors being put into place. "Good," Sludge says to himself. "That'll keep the Baboon from using his fists."
Turning on the radio, Sludge attempts to address the Valiant, unaware that it has been discarded by its' crew. "This is Wing Commander Sludge calling the Valiant, the wife of Commander Marsupial is dead, and unless you surrender, I shall also destroy the Commander!" As he speaks, he hand-signals to one of the Toads to aim his gun turret at the Valiant. The Toad replies with a thumbs-up, indicating that he has locked onto the fuel tanks of the mediochre vessel.
