We are killing innocent people, and far more of them than our enemies. In London 60 die in a one off attack. In Iraq, 800 DIE EVERY MONTH. The majority of Iraqis were pleased to have Saddam removed from power. Most of the people killed in Iraq are killed by terrorists blowing their own people up. As long as they continue this our troops cannot leave as they have to establish stability.

Not that I mind, but shouldn't this be a new thread? I can imagine that it must be frightening to live in an area regularly frequented by hurricanes, especially in fragile accommodation. I'm sorry, I was under the impression this thread was for news alerts?

I thought it was about the London bombs, and then was broadened into a discussion on terrorism. Since we've been asked to stop that discussion I suppose there is no reason for it not to be used for something else.

Religion is supposed to preach peaceful values but, as you demonstrate with Christianity, people often distort and misinterprate religious teachings to incite violence. This is still no excuse for killing. Actually, Christianity does in fact preach intolerance and violence a lot of the time, and there's plenty of terrorism throughout the Bible, particularly in the Old Testament. Try reading the Bible sometime. Stuff happens in there that make the Nazis look like choir boys. Just throwing in my two cents' worth. And, to those who are calling for this thread to be closed because its topic is depressing, no one says you have to read any of it.

Christianity does in fact preach intolerance and violence a lot of the time That was my point. I was reiterating and expanding upon an earlier statement by Brian. Religions are supposed to teach peace and love e.g. the Ten Commandments. However, people throughout history have often distorted or misinterpreted these teachings to incite violence and hatred (as with Christianity, Islam, Judaism and nearly every other religion). I was suggesting that it should still be inexcusable for someone to commit murder, even if it is in the name of his or her religion. I would feel the same way were it any religion.
